Yea... no changes to Vancouver or Boston next season.

That's a damn shame. I was looking forward to the Orca getting harpooned, and the possibility of Johnny Canuck being front-and-center on a third. Is the general consensus among Canuck fans that the whale needs to be ditched?

Considering the team store keeps putting Orca jerseys on sale like a jersey change is coming, I thought it was the front office's consensus that the whale was going to be ditched.

The third was outselling the whale jerseys, home and road, by about 1.5:1 at one point; I guess the Olympic crowds buying something that had "Native Art" and "Vancouver" on it made them reconsider, if at least for a year.

Guess they didn't get their application in on time. Ah well, there is always hope for 2012.

For me, the real question is, why on earth did Dallas go with what they did, when the perfect look for them was staring them square in the face in Des Moines? Make all the proper changes to the chest and shoulder crests, and suddenly the Stars have got one of the best looks in the Edge-era NHL.

The Sharks had the same problem. Awful new logo and color scheme, yet Worcester kept the old logo/colors/basic jersey style and fit it into the Edge system just fine.

Does anyone have the Predators 3rd jersey logo?

I've been looking but haven't been able to find it either. Nor have I been able to find a good version of the NP mark they wear on the pants with the third jersey.

Canucks fans, do you really like the bastardized version of your beloved Johnny Canuck? They chopped his head off and stuck it on a pike for crying out loud. It just seems like such a poor way to use this logo but it appears the "oh, vintage!" effect they were striving for has worked.

The "Vachonny Canuck" should be the primary logo, but the Canucks have reinvented themselves so many times that their brand is worthless so ultimately who gives a damn anyway.

♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

The Canucks, if I remember correctly, have a full body version that just isn't used widely.

Though the V/Johnny head works as an alternate, so making the alternate sweater the primary would work.

They do. You can see it on Luongo's mask, and on the players' helmets when they wear their alts (if you squint and/or have a 62" HDTV.) That's the logo I'd like to see front-and-center on a sweater - with either the stick-in-rink or V-Johnny on the shoulders.

A shoulder's no place for a V-johnny

Hey, some people take it wherever they can get it.

While I think most of us would like to see the Canucks ditch the wale, at least the current set is consistent. Which is why them not changing for the 2010-2011 season isn't as bad as the Oilers not making a change. They're going to continue to look mismatched, with their road whites not just utilizing a different style then the home blues, but using a different colour scheme as well. Meanwhile the designated alternate navy matches the full time roads.

For one season, as they transitioned the throwback look into the full time look, fine, it works. To continue doing it, however, is mind-boggling.

Actually, it'd be perfect... if your index finger was really your wang.

Not half as mind boggling as the fact those hideous practice jerseys were approved in the first place. Of all the Edge templates to choose from and they decide on the one that doesnt let the sleeve stripes go all the way around. Then they remove the horizontal stripes that have donned every Oilers jersey since the WHA and replace them with bettman stripes. Everytime I see those jerseys on the ice I get angry. Who designed such rubbish? Better yet who approved them? Why are they still around? If the Oilers insist of having a mismatched set at least retire the navy "alternate" so we dont have to look it anymore. They're enough to make your eyes bleed.

rant over

What the hell was wrong with these, Dallas???

They were excellent, except for one glaring deficiency: The lack of symmetry or consistency. It always bugged me that the star in the logo and the star pattern striping didn't line up. If they had fixed that, they would have been perfect in my eyes.

I hate you so goddam much right now. I never noticed that before, and now I can't stop noticing it. I loved that jersey, and now I can't even look at it.

Oh wow that really is awful.

bettman stripes

Well, that's a new one. Completely uninformed, but new.

I actually read that as "Batman stripes."

I've heard Bettman stripes, but I've always associated that term with the template that the Preds, Avalanche, and Panthers use.

Has anyone had a good look at the new Sabres road and alternate jerseys? Is the new road jersey just a white version of their current alternate with a shoulder island? And is the new alternate royal blue or yellow? (I've heard different descriptions.) It'd be nice if they could phase out the silver from everything but the logos.

Thanks.

Bettman Stripes refer to piping that runs down the front of the jersey from either the yoke or the neck to the hemline. The expression is neither new nor is it uninformed. Especially considering the first time I heard it was on these very boards. And to Ice-Cap, The Panthers use the exact same template as the Oilers so if you refer to the piping on their jerseys as Bettman stripes you can do the same with the Oilers.

Anyone here who's seen the RBK style guides can confirm / deny / "no comment", but what Sabres fans have heard for the past while is that the new away sweater will be a white version of the current alternate (new home), with the new alternate being royal blue.
