The Ducks' socks look so weird. It looks as if they took the regular socks then wrapped an orange bandage around the top area. As for the jersey itself, I'm meh, though for some reason I think they might actually grow on me. However, I think a straight paint job on their current home from black to orange, while keeping the cuffs and hem black, with the webbed D would have been much better.

Seeing them live, I like them 100 times better than their normal home uniforms. I like the orange on the jerseys and the socks as it makes the whole uniform pop and brighter and less depressing than their current uniforms.

Oh wow,.. I actually kind of like them. Only thing I don't like is the black outline on the numbers. With the extra emphasis on orange, there should be some orange in the numbers.

I too find the jerseys a mess. The orange stripes on the sides of the jersey, the orange socks, the overall striping, the collar, all just look terrible. And bringing back that Saturday morning cartoon "Mighty Ducks" logo as a shoulder patch is a big mistake. That logo should have stayed in the past with the cheesy "Mighty" Ducks nickname.

The only thing I like is the webbed duck's foot "D" logo front and center. This logo should be put on the front of their home and away jerseys burying the lame wordmark logo they use now.

I prefer the home jerseys and hope to God they don't make these the full time homes.

The Catch of the Day!

The side panels seem to work here in a way that the Flames' similar side panels don't. I wonder why that is.

As for the socks, why the hate? They don't feature crappy EDGE striping. In fact that pattern seems rather tame/traditional compared to what we see with the sweater.

I got to say, I like the whole look, and I agree with you, this jersey brings together elements other teams use that I really dislike, Flames side panels and the shoulder yolk stripe, but on this I think it works and looks good, socks included. Two complaints, with orange dominating as secondary color I would like to have seen the font outlined in it, and the continued use of this craptastic number font on the thirds.

What do you think is the next trend in NHL Uniform colors? The late 90's and early 2000s were marked by the color black. The Penguins hit the jackpot with the powder blue winter classic jerseys, and it seems every team now wants to jump on that trend (even when it doesn't make sense...Panthers). I can excuse the Jackets for going blue on their third...they have the word Blue in their name and the shades they used have historical significance. But tonight I was watching the Panthers against the Rangers on my TV and the Jackets on my computer, and I could not tell the difference between the two teams.

I just wonder what the next trend is going to be. I'm thinking green.

I really like the Ducks jerseys.

While I like the emphasis on the orange, the only thing I don't like is that there is just a smidge too much. I was fine with the shoulder piping on the image, but up close it could definitely go without it. Then the socks are interesting. On players that wear the pants longer, it looked fine, but on players that wore them shorter, it looked like too much to me. They are right near the balance of too much orange and just right. Sometimes it slides into just too much.

That said, I agree with Bucfan, and say that there should have been some orange in the number outlines. Not just the orange alone, but along with the gold.

Bought one :D

Don't think I've ever seen such a mixed bag of overall reactions. It's either better than the regular set or it's a black and orange mess.

Having just got up and seeing photos of the jersey again, I'm starting to think that the "OH DEAR LORD IT'S HORRIBLE" crowd are over-reacting. Just a liiittle bit much.

Well, making the D-foot the main logo was a great idea, and I'm not going to rip on the classic logo. I also like the orange cuffs, but the shoulder yoke piping is silly, and the side panel striping is just a bit overdone. Overall, though, the sweater isn't horrible, but you can add me to the list of individuals who dislike the socks. (And RBK socks are just so ugly. I miss the thick, water retaining pre-Edge socks.)

The orange socks are a bit over-the-top, and I think the look would better be completed with black socks, perhaps with thick orange striping, plus thin gold and white stripes. I'd assumed and hoped that they'd switch to orange outlines on the numbers. But seeing the whole look together on the ice, I think keeping the gold outlines provides balance and contrast against all the orange. Overall, I find the Ducks' alt to be a solid and unique modern design, which is incredibly refreshing amidst the past four years of click-and-fill proprietary templates and faux-retro overkill.

Get rid of the Reebok shoulder pipimg, and you have a true top-notch look.

Wish list for 2011-2012 season

1. Bruins utilize their yellow thirds full-time.

2. Rangers keep the new heritage jersey full-time and continue its use against original 6 teams / weekends. I like that.

3. Maple Leafs decide to NOT change their current alts (which are gorgeous).

4. Canucks decide to dump the orca, and go with blue home stick-in-rink, with matching whites for away and green as a third (this set would be dynamite...can someone make a rendering of what a green complement would look like ? )

5. Stars decide to dump the current third and at least get the ball rolling on a green "star" jersey similar to a decade ago.

6. Pens decide to keep the powder-blue beauts and not go with Winter Classic v. 2 over them.

7. Devils begin using their Christmas colors more or start alternating between light and dark old-school red/green/whites from year to year

8. Kings choose one direction or another; preferably, they use the purple and gold jerseys and keep the current third.

9. Oilers match road and homes...finally. No?

10. Sens finally use the great 2D logo they never utilize...or realize that barber poles / rugby style with the original logo would be dynamite

Ducks: Not bad. They basically did what the Flames should've done if they were gonna update to piping city. Not a fan of the shoulder yoke, but other than that, it's okay. Not garbage or anything.

Blue Jackets: Pretty good, despite the fact that they shamelessly jumped on the Blue Fauxback Bandwagon. Then again, if anybody should have permission to do so, it's the BLUE Jackets.
