RedRenesis 63 Posted October 3, 2010 I started this countdown last year on another board but I'll post it here:The Pittsburgh Pirates are now 316 losses away from 10,000 in franchise history.

NJTank 1,129 Posted October 3, 2010 You know I never understood Wild Card Champion Merchandise, but come on what Yankees fan would buy this? They have 27 World Championships 39 AL Titles, anything less than the Series is considered a failure every year, and you sell this?

TFoA 54 Posted October 3, 2010 Thank you Giants, for helping the Braves get into the playoffs with the minimum amount of drama & chaos. Phew. Now, time to root against them, at least for this series. The Giants are a distant #2 to the Braves, so I'll be cheering for them if they get past this series. Hopefully it won't have to come to that.

BaltimoreFan 0 Posted October 4, 2010 Well an odd season for the Orioles. Expectations were somewhat high, I thought the team would hover around .500 (I thought 78-83 wins seemed reasonable). The team instead finished with 96 losses. Most of the young guys did not improve as expected (Matt Wieters has been a huge disappointment). However the team played .600 ball under Buck Showalter. So, I'm not sure what at all to think about the team. Hopefully we are active in the offseason. I'd like to see some creative trades made. Another offseason like last year will not be acceptable. I think Showalter is the right manager for the job, but there still needs to be better talent in place.
CDixonDesign 178 Posted October 4, 2010 Mets relieve Omar Minaya, and fire Jerry Manuel. Wait, what's the difference? http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5647075&campaign=rss&source=twitter&ex_cid=Twitter_espn_5647075
TheOldRoman 1,292 Posted October 4, 2010 Wrong. This scenario almost played out in 2005. It was would have been between New York, Boston and Cleveland who were tied with the same record. I guess New York and Boston would have a playoff for the division title, and yes, the loser would fall half a game behind, but said loser would then play Cleveland for the wild card berth. This scenario was avoided because the Tribe lost 6 of 7 or something to the Royals and Devil Rays to close the season in typical fashion. The Indians did lose to those teams the last week and a half. But after clinching the division, the White Sox went in with their reserves and swept the Indians the last weekend of the season to stick the fork in them.
