IceCap
Maybe I'm biased due to the fact that I pulled for the Jazz in the 97 and 98 Finals, but it really was a solid look, overall. The J/note logo, while a decent logo, was a hold-over from the New Orleans days. The purple, sky blue, and copper look was uniquely Utah. Shame they've chipped away at what was a solid, if a bit 90s, identity in favour of first a bland imitation of what was "in" at the time, and then a tired, poorly executed, retread of an identity that never really fit the location. Lights Out
Frankly, I like that look better with the mountains on the front - they never should have ditched those. They would have looked even better in the different shades of blue that they've been using.EVOLUTION!You spelled "DEVOLUTION" wrong. IceCap
I lost the mountains because, well, they were a product of the time (90s design). I removed them to try and make the look more timeless.EVOLUTION!You spelled "DEVOLUTION" wrong. The whole thing's an inexcusable mess. Recolouring the logo for the double blue look was an awful idea, as it matched nothing else in that set's identity package. Recolouring it for this new-old identity is even worse. If the Jazz want to go back to the J/note look, ok, fine. I'm not a fan of that look, but sure, they can do what they want. If they're going to return to the J/note look, however, then they should commit to the J/note look and leave the 90s logo in the past. Lights Out
Haha don't worry, I was just thinking of the Clippers to be quite honest with you. Anybody know when we'll be seeing the Clippers? The new logo will probably be unveiled during or after the draft as is customary when teams change their identity. I'm hoping they also unveil the uniforms, but I honestly wouldn't expect to see them until later in the summer. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
Hoopskid
I expect the Clippers to unveil a new alternate logo aswell. For me, it just doesn't make sense unveiling a logo that most people will not even notice the change. Imagine the press conference where they gather the media and everyone's like "Ok, what's the new logo look like?"I think they'll have to add a new secondary to atleast update their brand, because what they did to the primary was simple correct its initial flaws, but it's essentially the same logo. FiddySicks
Back during the Jazz finals run in the late 90's, I was a HUGE fan of the team specifically because of the uniforms they wore with the mountains on the front. They looked absolutely fantastic in that look and it represented their most successful time period. That lookshould never have been ditched. jimbojohnny56
The mountains jerseys were worse than the ones they just got rid of. As a fan of the Jazz from the begining of their run in 1988 with Stockton and Malone as youngsters against the Lakers the mountain uniforms were just plain horrible. Several other teams had some awful unis in the late 90's .. The Sonics,Cavs,Warriors,Hawks and Nuggets come to mind.

Sport
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: use a saxophone for the J and a mountain for the A. Then, I dunno, just sorta scribble in the two Z's?Maybe it's because I'm doing a bad job of visualizing it in my head, but that sounds like a trainwreck to me.I had a similar idea once upon a time and I came out with this. Somewhere in between the point where I got the idea and what actually came out I lost what I was going for, but here it is. I went with a full-on music theme in this, and changed the colors around a little. I don't like it either.

I never thought that "spy pic" posted by Greg Miller on Twitter could be sublimated mountains. I'm not quite sure what I would think of that. PurpleRush
The Jazz' 1996-2004 look remains my favourite. It really could have lasted, I think, if they just tweaked it to remove some of the more 90s elements. Something like this....Well done.I like these. knnhrvy16
I just threw up a little in my mouth looking at those hideous things again.I guess you'll just have to live with the fact that our most successful time period was spent with these uniforms it's the success achieved wearing these that makes them iconic in the Jazz's history (and it's also a staple of my childhood, as I grew up seeing the Jazz in these. Though I'm a huge fan of the musical note, this look will always remain sentimental to me for that very reason.) The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

The_Admiral
Yeah, on the whites they looked fine, but even I had to admit eventually that the white gradient on the roads did not withstand the test of time.Good modernization concept, similar to what I've had in mind. I wondered if using the black alternate template (with the side panels) could've prolonged that set's existence. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
jimbojohnny56
The rise of the Utah Jazz was in the Ball and Note unis from 1987 and up. Thurl Bailey,John Stockton,Karl Malone,Mark Eaton and Bobby Hansen even Jeff Hornacek wore the ball and note unis and he is up in the rafters and they are actually changing his retired jersey to the old ball and note. Why is'nt John Stockton and Karl Malone's retired jersyes the mountains jerseys because they suck plain and simple.
The_Admiral
Okay, you don't like it. IceCap
I just threw up a little in my mouth looking at those hideous things again. The look I based them off was worn during the most successful period in franchise history. Not only that, but they actually reflected their location, rather then the J/note look, which was a holdover from the New Orleans days.I agree that the mountain uniforms were a little dated, which is why I lost the mountain graphics on the jersey and eliminated the gradient.Yeah, on the whites they looked fine, but even I had to admit eventually that the white gradient on the roads did not withstand the test of time.Good modernization concept, similar to what I've had in mind.
