MLB 2035

Quite a few futuristic concepts have been popping up and I thought I would throw my hat into the ring. A couple of years ago I started a series that showed uniforms from the year 2028. While I continued working on it I never posted all of the concepts because I was not happy with the results. I have decided a reboot of sorts would be just the thing to get this back on track. I have several concepts done or close to done and I will post them one at a time. These are not the cookie cutter styles I have used in the past. Some teams will change a lot. Some will change very little. If you are a big fan of tradition, this isn't the series for you to watch. Please keep an open mind as you check these out. It is impossible for anyone to predict what uniforms will look like in 25 years. But I decided to make my own story as to what the trends of the day will be. Here are the rules I will try to stick to:

-No more than 3 uniforms per team. I have set this limit because if I don't, it will get as bad as it already is in baseball.

-No BP jersey. I never see MLB abolishing the BP jersey but I will for this series.

-Tradition is out the window. If you are a fan of the Cardinals, Yankees, Braves, Dodgers and Red Sox, it's gonna get interesting.

-Limit the road gray. I predict the regular road gray will get phased out eventually. Only a hand full of the teams in this series will still carry one.

-Nothing is too crazy. I am not gonna slap a huge logo on the front of a jersey and call it a futuristic design. But I am going to experiment with a lot of different elements of the uniform that has either not been done before or has been done very little.

-Not all jerseys are created equal. I want to use pullovers, button-ups, two button design, one button design. I am going to assume that Majestic is not the only ones making uniforms for MLB in the future. So a lot of different jersey styles are going to be attempted here.

Thanks for reading, now on to the concepts:

First up is the Chicago White Sox

The Sox are no stranger to trying something new. They have been doing it for years by going to the extreme in some cases. This concept is pretty tame compared with the White Sox history. The team has embraced the black and silver look. Many teams in 2035 do not have a gray jersey. This team continues to wear one. The all black alternate is worn mostly during Friday night games when it gets cold in Chicago. The team likes wearing all black because it makes them look menacing.

The White Sox are just the first team. They have done things different in the past and I see them as a team that would take on an identity like this. Not all of the concepts here are going to have block type fonts with a futuristic look. I am going to present several teams that are going to hold on to vintage looks. I just don't think the White Sox will be one of them.

It certainly has a faux-traditional futuristic flavor to it. However, I feel like by 2035 the Sox will still have a take on either the big S logo or the current intertwined logo. Do you have some ideas for either logo? Right now, there's really no logo per se. Just wordmarks.

I like most of this for the Sox. But I think there should be some kind of "Sox" logo on the hat instead of a C. For pretty much their entire history, they have used some kind of "Sox" loog on the caps. I do think you got it right with the colors. For a team that has changed colors as much as anyone, I think they found that black and silver work very nicely for them.

The Sox have had the 'Sox' logo in some form or another for most of their history. I will try making my own based on what I have so far here. It wouldn't be a bad idea to have it for an alternate cap at the very least.

I already like where this is going. It's not too over the top, but it does seem like something futuristic in a very traditional and conservative sport. I can't wait to see what you do with the really traditional teams.

This one is sure to turn some heads and possibly hurt some eyes. I got this idea because I feel that at some point orange will become a permanent part of the Marlins identity. I added a darker teal and made black a very small part of the identity. The home uniform isn't quite white, and the road uniform has no gray jersey. Alright fellas, let's hear it.

That looks almost exactly like what the University of Miami wears right now

...AH! but in 2035...these will be "throwback-inspired"

Bless you sir for the inclusion of teal in your Marlins concept! As much as I utterly despise the use of orange in the Marlins identity today(which doesn't include the uniforms or logos in use, only marketing and giveaways), this Dolphins-esque look would be better than what they are probably going to end up with in 2012. Hopefully sometime long before the year 2035 Jeffery Loria sells the team and someone who likes teal and/or respects the history of the Marlins and it's fans will buy the club.

As for the concept itself, I'm not sold on the cap logo or font selection, but I like the subtle "wave" going on with the scripts. Again though, I'd gladly take this as opposed to what Mr. Loria likely has planned for 2012.

The Marlins font and White Sox font look almost exactly the same.

Also, no offense, but these hardly seem futuristic to me besides the fonts. TATC is an excuse to get wacky and have some fun. Try a sublimated ocean pattern for the Marlins, or something else non-traditional and zany in nature!

He's not really going for a TAtC theme though, TAtC is a little over the top, almost like the MLB thought they were playing in space. Jay's just going for what he thinks the MLB might look like in 2035. I like the White Sox a lot, the jerseys look gorgeous. I like Miami too but the script does look a lot like the White Sox selection, maybe try something different there but otherwise your good. This is definitely a series I'll be following and as always I can't what to see what you got planned for the Braves.

Could you maybe share what the color scheme might be? If you can't i understand but it would be cool to have an idea. I've been hearing a lot about a blue or dark blue color taking over the teal any truth to that.

I'm predicting black and orange.

Probably, because the MLB needs a third black and orange team.

Not really feeling the Marlin head as a cap logo, but I think it would make a killer sleeve patch.

I once had a car but I crashed it. I once had a guitar but I smashed it. I once, wait where am I going with this?
