At first glance this jersey looks sharp, but I have to believe that watching on TV or in the stands, that zero is going to be really tough to distinguish from an eight. There are probably a few numbers that will have the same problem. This is what happened with UCONN as well. There condensed fonts are tough to tell between threes and nines and so forth.

It looks fairly nice. It's modern(ish) enough for the UFL, yet still remains classy. That zero's a bit funky though, and I hope there's actually some light blue on the home. Let's hope they don't screw up the pants either.

Jersey looks pretty good but the top circle on the "8" looks really awkward.

That Seahorse Mountain Lion looks weird as hell. Some letters cannot be turned into certain animals without getting really creative with it...and they didn't get creative enough to make this work. The head itself looks okay, but not on that shape. The rest of the city name is fine looking, and the team name is tacked on and tired. Nice colors, though. Probably the worst so far.

RGB-Optimized version of the Mountain Lions' logo plus wordmark:

I'm going to eventually start a thread for all of the UFL logos. (I'll still need that second page of Omaha's graphics though.)

With Sacramento, the color choices are a little odd - that Dark Gold in the logo is a metallic color, and the intent is that the helmets will be a different shade of metallic Gold.

Wow, I actually don't mind this. Creative choice to make the lion into an 'S', but it's the UFL and I'm glad they're trying something new.

A couple initial thoughts:

-- Interesting that they provide an "optional" non-S lion logo to put on left side of the helmet rather than just putting the "S" on there backwards. Does this mean they may have the logo on just one side of the helmet?

-- This marks the third team (Sacramento, Hartford, Omaha) to use logos the same color as the helmet. Not only do I dislike having a five team league inlude two with gold helmets, it would be nice to see a little color contrast. It just makes it harder to make otherwise nice logos stand out.

I actually think that the Mountain Lions' logo package is the best work that Purepartner has done on behalf of any of the UFL's teams. For one thing, they've finally managed to resist the urge to cram a primary mark/wordmark combo with extraneous design elements and over-the-top flourishes. There are some minor "tweaks" that I'd make, but - top to bottom - Sacramento's logos strike me as being the best in the UFL... hands down.

As for my tweaks...

* While the current color palette is fine, I'd have gone with Forest Green instead of Black.

* With the current color palette, I'd go with a Black facemask on the helmet. If Forest Green replaced Black, I'd go with a Forest Green helmet with a White facemask.

* I don't really see the need for the Optional Left Side Helmet Mark. I'd go with the Right Side Helmet Mark on both sides. Yes, I understand how some people will see the Right Side Helmet Mark as an awkwardly-rendered "Z" when/if it is used on the left side of the helmet. However, if team ownership is that worried about it, I'd suggest that they simply use the Optional Left Side Helmet Mark on both sides of the helmet. Using a completely different helmet logo design on each side of the helmet will look asinine. Better yet, use the Left Side Helmet Mark on both sides, but increase its size and apply it the way that the USFL's Michigan Panthers used to wear their helmet logo.

* The "spoon"-shaped cut-out in the middle of the Top Center Helmet Mark is unnecessary. Just render the paw solidly.

* The angle of the "o" at the end of "Sacramento" in the Combination Wordmark & Primary Mark is awkward. I recognize that the designers were trying to mirror the angle of each "a" and the "e" in the word, but the "o" simply looks askew. I'd render the "o" more upright.

As I said, minor "tweaks. Overall, the package is as good as it gets in the United Football League... which, I recognize, to date isn't saying much.

I honestly hadn't noticed the cut-out until you mentioned it. It looks to me like it's meant to represent a football, which just looks forced. It might be more obvious if they added seams to the ball, but I think I agree with you that it's unnecessary.

Overall, the UFL has done a great job with their logo packages. I was hoping Sacramento's look was good enough to blow everyone's look, including Omaha's, out of the water, but it doesn't. But that's not to say it isn't good. I'll be living in Sacramento again in the fall, and I'm a huge Daunte Culpepper fan, so I'll for sure catch a few games this year.

Secondary/Helmet Marks:

I understand they were trying to be creative by incorporating the "S" into the top logo, but my first thought was "AWWW. Poor kitty broke its neck. It looks like roadkill." Sorry...that's just my honest first thought.

I think the middle logo looks much better because it's missing the awkward indention. The logo itself is pretty good, it's just the "S" that looks weird.

Lower logo for the helmet "stripe" looks good.

So they're going to be using a S-Lion on the right side of the helmet and an S-less-Lion on the left?

I really like what the UFL has done with the logos and especially the helmet stripes. Being a new league they need to put their own signature on everything they do, including uniforms. I absolutely love the Tuskers helmet, with the tusks on the bottom-LOVE IT. There are points that I don't like, gold logos on gold helmets logos that are just way too intricate-I'm looking at you Hartford-lackluster color schemes (UNLV anyone?)etc. But besides those points I'm very interested to see this years uniforms, as they are moving away from last years template uni's. Here's to hoping the UFL survives, continues innovating, and expands. I like what they're doing.

With only 4 home games, a "few" is all you'll catch anyway. ;)
