Moseph
Starting today this is MD's new standard tag. I think the design is pretty bad. They should have made these tags optional and left the black and whites, they are classichttp://voices.washingtonpost.com/local-breaking-news/md-to-unveil-new-license-plate.html?hpid=moreheadlines
Subi
I really don't like that design. I googled the old ones, and those are infinitely superior.
Don
bad. I wont be switching mine. crashcarson15
From a purely design standpoint, it's beautiful. Loads better than the farm scene plates we used to have in Indiana. That said though, the old plates were also beautiful and simple. I'll say it's a slight downgrade but I like both designs.

scarsofthumper
Good thing about Florida, we have plenty of choices. But my god, HUGE downgrade.

BBTV
I think I post the same tired old rant in every plate thread, but if I spend 80k+ on a beautiful, classy, shiny-black car, the last thing I want is for some garish, tacky plate on it. How is this effective marketing for the states? Why does anyone feel the need to express themselves via license plate? There should just be one basic plate, for ALL states, with the first two letters being the state abbreviation so you'd know what state the plate you're recording is from (or just keep the same shape and write the state name above or below the numbers.) This way, you could make the plates available in ANY color, so you could have one that compliments your new vehicle, and doesn't clash. It's a license plate. It's identification. It doesn't need to make a statement. "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." CDixonDesign
The simplicity of the Maryland plates are what was great about them, these just seem like something tacky and patriotic you'd pick up at Wal-Mart. yeesh.
Saturn
The hell? Those are UGLY. Where is the MARYLAND flag and why use a design for the war of 1812??? Seriously, someone needs to be fired for this.

Tacky design aside, at least Google Ft. McHenry and then come back... Yeah do that. Do exactly THAT
fkaKrock5cent
Honestly, Maryland has one of the best flags in the Union, if we are going to change our plates why can't we make it more of an important part of the design?
dfwabel
The thought to appreciate the War of 1812 and the battle is one thing, the execution of the plate is another. It is too cartoonish for me, as Fort McHenry looks more like the rail building behind Camden Yards.
BrySmalls
I've heard that DC will have "War of 1812" License Plates soon; hopefully not as tacky as Maryland's.
tBBP
You know something...I actually really do like that style of art. That rendition of Fort McHenry, the fireworks, and the colors really do tie in together quite nicely. For an advertisement for a Fourth of July fireworks show. But that :censored:'s just all wrong for a license plate...especially for Maryland, which has probably the most recognizable state flag in the union. I'd sure like to meet the guy(s) who chose this design for the state's next official plate, just to see where their thought process was. (Although to be fair, I can about bet none of them are design geeks like we are up in here. ) *Disclaimer: I am not an authoritative expert on stuff...I just do a lot of reading and research and keep in close connect with a bunch of people who are authoritative experts on stuff. || dribbble || Behance ||
elsephen
Yikes. Looks like they had a 'design a plate' contest for Maryland's 2nd graders.
Buster
(born in MD)I don't mind it. MD has a lot of great plates compared to other states, especially PA where I live now.Their old "plain" ones are classy looking:They have one with a dinosaur:The Chesapeake Blue Heron plates are always nice:Here's a fun one:Simple yet nice:Funny:But this is my favorite:
