Armadillos is also used for San Saba High School in San Angelo, Texas-- the only high school in the whole state to use that name. It is what it is. Think about it this way, if the animal is not domesticated (bulldog), then it is hard to be known if you were not in a circus or in a zoo in the early 1900's, when sport within US universities began.
