LocalVulture
Boise State has been a nice story but in the long run how far will the program ever go. Like others have said here they will never be allowed to play for a national title in the current system. So maybe it's time for Petersen to move on to Stanford or another program. Lights Out
Just look at how far the program has gone since entering the FBS in 1996. Boise State went from nothing to BCS bowl wins, yearly high rankings, and nationwide attention in just a few short years. I believe the national championship is next, and I think Boise can get there. Hopefully Petersen thinks the same. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
gingerbreadmann
So, there are just two college football games left this year. One should be an incredible game between two unbelievable teams, and the other is the National Championship. I'm just hoping not to get blown out. BC has the best run defense and Nevada, obviously, one of the most explosive and awesome running games in all the land. That should be a great matchup. If BC can stop the run and the offense doesn't blow (a tall order indeed), I think the Eagles might actually have a shot. Until then, I'm not getting my hopes up as clearly Nevada is (and should be) hugely favored here. This is also the final game for the unbelievable Mark Herzlich; here's hoping he goes out with a bang. Go Eagles!
FiddySicks
Big win for Nevada tonight. Good to see sich strong representation from Wolf Pack fans in the city too! OnWis97
I don't what see why anyone is freaking out that Andrew Luck is staying in college. How does his staying in school affect any of you?I'm sure he has evaluated his decision enough to be comfortable with whatever happens in his senior year. God forbid a student-athlete enjoys school and wants to get his degree before the brain trauma that could follow an NFL career sets in.The thing is that it's not the right monetary decision. He's going to be the #1 pick and with the guranteed money, he won't need a degree to fall back on if he blows out both knees on day 1. But apparently Luck likes the college life enough that the potential to fall in the draft and/or be affected by a new rookie pay scale doesn't outweigh what he'd be missing in his next year (or two if he wants) years of college. I'm not gonna rip on Luck for passing up the draft this year because he clearly thought through this decision a lot considering he's going the way pretty much nobody thought he'd take.I think this is a nice piece on the Luck decision...particularly how our thoughts that he must be crazy/stupid/whatever "says so much more about us than it does about Luck."Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/michael_rosenberg/01/07/andrew.luck/index.html#ixzz1AeBrwlo2Who cares if it's the wrong monetary decision? If he's content with being rich instead of super-rich, good for him. Had Boise State ended up as one of only two undefeated teams this season, they definitely would have made the title game. There's simply no way the BCS could have kept them out. Doing so would have basically proven every argument against the BCS. The BCS is a lot of things but being stupid enough to cut their own throat isn't one of them. If they would have one of four this year, we'd have gotten Boise/TCU part... whatever it is now, and still would have Auburn/Oregon in the NCG. If that's not what Vulture meant by being allowed, it's what I mean. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if an undefeated non-SEC school and one-loss SEConference winner got in over an undefeated Boise every year until the BCS is dibanded. Two one-loss teams would be harder for the BCS to justify.

knnhrvy16
I'm going to go with gut rather than head, and say Oregon wins a close one 27-21, with thier second half offense that has been spectacular all year coming through big. My head wants Auburn to win, so that Oregon's ugly AXE cologne can uniforms develop a bad omen and are never worn again, but that's an entirely different discussion The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.
Billy B
I want Auburn to win and think that they will in a close one. I really think it won't be a high-scoring game though. Even as good as both offenses are, I'd bet that neither team gets into the 30s.
Lights Out
Oregon 30, Auburn 10. Nick Fairley is great but Auburn's defense as a whole will not be able to stop Oregon's complicated and fast offense. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
slightly shotgunned
I haven't seen enough of Oregon to predict anything concrete, but from watching Auburn my gut tells me the game goes like this: Somebody is going to get exposed near the end of the first half and will likely never recover as they try to play from behind. The second half won't be entertaining for anyone but the winning team. I just don't see this game being close.

Seadragon76
My pick is simple.I want Oregon to win because I am tired of the godforsaken SEC dumbasses that always show up and crow about how the SEC is the greatest thing since sliced bread.Enough! Oregon wins tonight and makes sure that the Plains burn in rage tonight.
