Denard would be on a stretcher trying to play like that in the SEC, where you earn every win.

Yeah, because Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Kentucky are so tough these days, right?

Every conference is going to have teams that don't look good in comparison to their opponents/conference (look at the teams you posted and where their losses have come from thus far)...however, in my opinion, the worst of the SEC would still beat the worst of any other conference in most cases. Just like the best of the SEC would do to the best of other conferences.

I just get tired of all the obligatory hype that ESPN and other sports networks must give to Big 10/12 teams when we know how it all ends...they beat up the poor teams in their conference, get a title shot and get creamed by the SEC champion...with Ohio State being the worst offender (that story gets so old).

I think my point was still valid, unless you ignored everything in my post except for the last sentence.

Put me on record.

Sparty will beat the Wolverines next week. Denard is talented but this is his first big rivalry game and test, Though the Hoosiers did that already.

+1 on this one.

Between that last-second fake field goal pass for the game-winning TD against Notre Dame (clock issue be damned) and last week's balls-of-steel resolve by Sparty's acting head coach to go for it on fourth down several times in that game yesterday in which they ended up beating Wisconsin, I think Sparty's riding on high right now. And Wisconsin isn't exactly a slouch of a team. Add to that a Michigan defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone, and well...yeah, chances for a Sparty victory look pretty decent.

the SEC is still the best conference , but it isnt far and away better as it has been in previous years . look at the georgia - colorado game from last night . those are two teams in the bottom half of each of their conferences , and the Big 12 team came out on top , though not by much .

Exactly. How was Boise's trouncing of New Mexico State any different than Bama whooping Duke 62-13 or Oregon crushing New Mexico 72-0? Boise scored slightly fewer points, but once you get past 40-0, does the margin of victory really matter anymore?

If anyone should have dropped, it should have been Ohio State. That was a putrid performance against a bad Illinois program.

Agreed. Ohio State barely beat a half-decent team. Boise State clobbered a less-than-half-decent team, and went down in the polls for it. Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyone else see Air Forces' uniforms?

Yep, the helmet's looked great. Not sure if you saw the mentioning of it, but they were a nod to the Air Force Thunderbirds, and the helmet is based off of the Thunderbirds pilot helmets.

I saw. And the fact the their name plates said freedom for the even numbers, and service for the odd numbers made me smile a little bit.

The end of LSU vs. Tennesse has to be the most exciting fragment of a football game I've seen in my life. And I'm glad that the Volunteers were on the wrong end of it. I hate the Volunteers. They're big rivals to Kentucky.

I take it you've never seen the Bluegrass Miracle before--which coincidentally also worked to LSU's favor. (The UK guy screaming ":censored:!" at the :59 second mark is classic.)

As far as the poll thing...Boise fell one spot. Boo-frickin-hoo. All it was was a one-spot hop for Oregon. Boise beat Oregon last year. They don't play this year, so no one can say for sure who would win this go-round. But apparently the voters feel Oregon is the superior team this go-round.

And since we're talking poll updates...apparently Nevada's gaining a lil' bit of respect, having jumped four spots to #21. And since I'm one of three people in here that care...Florida State snuck in the back door and planted their flag at #23. (dance)

I LOVE keeping that cannon blue. A win over UNLV is better than a bowl win IMO. Especially when we can beat em at their place.

I was mad about the bluegrass miracle when it happened when I was a kid, but I'm over it now. It was just another regular season game. Besides, Tennessee is a bigger rival to the Wildcats than the Tigers. I'm really disappointed about Boise State falling to #2. hopefully Alabama and Ohio State will lose soon. I hate both teams a lot.

Please explain how LSU earned yesterday's win. In fact, in a league where there seems to be more than its fair share of incompetent football play this season, how much is victory actually "earned" and how much is victory "given"?

Tennessee: "What."

LSU's tomfoolery in clock management got Tennessee confused as to what was going on, and thus caused Tennessee to lose track in who was supposed to be on the field...

You won't like this but it's the reality. Oregon pounded a top ten team. Ohio State beat a team from a BCS conference and they have their win against Miami so they didn't lose any ground. Boise State beat a nobody. That's why. Well that and Oregon is just better than Boise State. If you ask me, Oregon should be #2 right now.

If the rankings were based solely on defense then yeah Ohio State might have a claim to number two. Add in their offense and I gotta drop them down to at best 8 or 9. (See how easy it is to be objective about your favorite team? :P)

Oh, I can be very objective about Boise. I assume you missed my ranting about how undisciplined they were playing against Oregon State. I mean, there were even punches thrown - the fighting in the fourth quarter was inexcusable for both teams.

And it's fine to say that Oregon should move up based on beating Stanford. But I sure hope you're not planning on using the "body of work" argument anytime soon, because Boise's recent body of work includes two straight wins over Oregon in '08 and '09.
