Ez Street
The logo, was made by me. It was a joke on another thread, which some actually liked. I may refine it further just to see how it holds up against what will be the new name.I've heard from a few sources that they will in fact be Sporting KC next season. Take that for what it's worth. BrySmalls
Bland. Reminds me of the MetroStars' second crest.
Ez Street
Good eye. It's probably going to be BLAND with that name.
BrySmalls
If it is Sporting KC, I would imagine after the riots, that a portion, or most, of the supporters would still call their club the "Wizards".
Ez Street
Yeah, that's been talked about already. It's probably what the Ownership think they should do. That'd be more European.

What do you think this is, Serbia? It'll be a bunch of internet bitching, then a buying of merch.
exaccardi
Honestly, they should keep the wizards. they have been some form of the name since their inception- whether it is the wiz or the wizards. i am personally a fan of their current blue, black and gold color scheme, but i agree that their logo could use an overhaul- also keep the font. Needschat
Sporting KC? Really? Why the love of the Euro-trash names? United, Sounders FC, FCD, TFC? This is North America, where we have a long and entertaining use of nicknames, in all sports. We've had the Caribous of Colorado. There was the Schenectady Frog Alley Bunch. The River Vale Skeeters and Newark Peps existed. If you want to do an homage, call the team Monarch Kansas City and call it a day.
Ez Street
No official word yet, one of the owners has stated last week that they are "looking into it" and it's a heated topic within the ownership group. The fanbase pretty much thinks that it's going to happen. At the very least, the team will have a new logo next year. They sold off all their merchandise and signage at last weeks game. They even sold some snazzy tables with the Wizards logo on them.Making the way for a new mark....or new name......
Gothamite
Why the love of the Euro ... names? You can't really blame owners and fans for wanting to pattern MLS after places where they actually play the sport well.

The city is the real thing. At least when Euro soccer club have nicknames, they rose organically, over time, from the fans. Is anything more meaningless than Oklahoma City Thunder (or take your pick of any team "named" in the past 15 years)? If there were no nicknames, just City names to define teams, does relocation happen as much?(Note, this post should be read as especially damning to a name like 'Real Salt Lake', the most inane thing ever. I have no problem with a Toronto FC however)
_RH_
Many renderings I've seen of the future stadium have the Wizards name all over. I wonder if any of those signs have been constructed yet...
AdAstraKC
I live in KC, I drove by the stadium last week and there are no signs of any Wizards signs... I'm really afraid of them becoming Sporting KC or anything of the like. This is 'merica. give me a goofy ass 'merican sports team name.

hawk36
It may just be me but I welcome the name change. The whole "Off to See the Wizard" thing just seemed cheesy to me. Still its been around for a long time so maybe others don't see it as so.
