lost_limey
The Redskins looked surprisingly competent last night, especially in their return game. Granted it was both pre-season and the Bills. Amusing fact, the last time the Redskins scored at least 42 points ina pre-season game was back in 1988 against the Raiders, who were led by rookie head coach Mike Shanahan. Wonder whatever happened to him?

infrared41
Green Bay fumbled away a punt return, giving McCoy the ball deep in Packer territory... and he promptly threw up a duck toward a double-covered receiver in the end zone. One of the easiest interceptions ever.Welcome to the NFL, Colt McCoy. And the Browns new starting QB shredded your defense on his only series. Welcome to Cleveland Jake Delhomme. (I can't believe I'm talking about an exhibition game. )

Shumway
Upon watching the first bit of the Lions/Yinzers game last night, I was pretty pleased with Detroit's starters. Jahvid Best looked solid, even blocking pretty well on passing plays. Speaking of which, I'm excited to see what Stafford will do with two solid TEs and a #2 WR not named Bryant Johnson. Even defensively, the Lions looked decent....I love the Suh/Vanden Bosch tandem. Why am I always so optimistic about the Lions?
infrared41
Why am I always so optimistic about the Lions?Probably for the same reason I'm always optimistic about the Browns; they can only go up from here. Besides, what fun would it be to go into every season thinking "Well, they're going to suck again this year. No need to get my hopes up." Someday we'll be right. Someday... BlueSky
Why am I always so optimistic about the Lions?Probably for the same reason I'm always optimistic about the Browns; they can only go up from here. Besides, what fun would it be to go into every season thinking "Well, they're going to suck again this year. No need to get my hopes up." Someday we'll be right. Someday... I'm here to verify this. For 40 years my fan philosophy was 'every dog has its day and someday mine will have his.' I'd literally begun to wonder whether I'd see the Saints as a serious SB contender in my lifetime. Obviously 2009 was the most memorable season since I became a Saints fan in '69, but 2006 is a close second. Remember, 2005 was the Katrina year of 3-13 and in '06 they had a new coaching staff (when I heard the hire, I said, "Sean who?" I'd never heard of him ) , lots of new players who had no better alternative than to go to a ruined city, and a QB who some said would never play at an NFL level again (most injuries like Brees' require 5-7 shoulder anchors, his needed 11). All that and they went to the NFC Championship.Jake Delhomme has taken a team to the SB so I think overall they're closer than the Lions, but the great thing about a new season is that hope springs eternal and sometimes the hope is well-founded. Gary
Why am I always so optimistic about the Lions? The same reason why people are otimistic about the Cubs, think they can do something only to have their hearts ripped from them like Mola Ram from Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. Trust me, i'm a Lions fan and feel like this the first game of the season at times
