BlueSky
The Giants do seem to have cornered the market on this stuff. I saw this cool mask on Barry Cofield (#96) last night. At first I thought the bottom part was like the QB/RB mask Brees wears but it's clearly different, and that top part is pretty sweet.Maybe I'll e-mail UniWatch and ask about the Giants having all the new headgear and masks since Paul Lukas knows the Giants' equipment manager. Or maybe he's talked about it already?
Jezus_Ghoti
found it!#99 Chris CantyCanty has been wearing that for a few years. He wears it because he had an eye injury (detached retina) in the past and can't risk getting hit in the face. He even wore it when he played in Dallas. The weird thing is that Keith Bulluck also wears a facemask like that for the Giants. He never wore a weird facemask in Tennessee and, as far as I know, has never hurt his eyes or face. Maybe he just saw Canty's facemask and thought it looked cool. The Giants do seem to have cornered the market on this stuff. I saw this cool mask on Barry Cofield (#96) last night. At first I thought the bottom part was like the QB/RB mask Brees wears but it's clearly different, and that top part is pretty sweet.Several of the Giants have been wearing those helmets for a few years now. I think the Redskins might also have a few guys who wear it, but I'm not sure about that.
andrewharrington
Yes, that's a standard mask for that type of helmet, the Schutt ION 4D: I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]
neo_prankster
Yes, that's a standard mask for that type of helmet, the Schutt ION 4D:Pretty interesting how Schutt manages to get the facemask attached on either side of the helmet. neo_prankster
I just had to bump this up because this custom facemask is just insane (From UniWatch)that's Harry Swayne in '94Jeez man, that's crazy. And I thought Rickey Jackson was the only one who wore that kind of mask.Either way Swayne was pretty solid when he was with SD. tubby34
I really like LT's Vader and Cantys/Bullocks. I Wish someone on the dolphins would wear them. Ricky Williams sunburst with the traditional bar was cool, the one he wore when he came back against the bucs.
Luigi
like neo-prankster I also found this one on uni-watch: pure insanity.I also loved the one that gary anderson wore, it looked so out of place on a modern football field: My fantasy teams: West Coast Cardinals (WRU), Glasgow Claymores (RLI) (Champions 2012) and Pemberton Foresters (VBL)

PackerBadger
I love this beauty that Charlie Smith wore in Super Bowl XV.That was so he could play with his broken jaw. John in KY
you probably were watching the New York Giants. They always seem to be the first team with new and crazy helmets or facemasks.found it!#99 Chris CantyCanty was sportin a different mask for the Carolina game. One less bar on the bottom...It's a different facemask because it's a different kind of helmet. In the top photo he is wearing a Riddell VSR-4 and a customized facemask from Schutt; however, a standard-mount Schutt facemask does not fit on a Schutt DNA helmet, which is what he is wearing this season in the lower photo. Schutt came up with a mask that provides the same amount of eye protection as the standard-helmet model he is wearing in the upper photo. The two masks both have 6 cross bars; but on the DNA mask the bottom bar is much closer to the others; the "regular helmet" mask is based on a standard EJOPO so that bottom bar is much lower.
