As a BILLS fan who grew up in North Buffalo I can verify this to be true. This occurred when Chuck Knox became coach in 1979.

We began wearing the white jerseys with blue pants at Home games in Sept / Oct

In Nov / Dec we reverted back to blue jersey / white pants for the remaining home games.

I am a big proponent of the home team wearing white in every sport but football. I thought that when the NHL changed from mandating the home team wear their white uniforms to the dark ones they made a mistake. Sometimes a sport can mess with their tradition to the point that they lose their league identity. Is there a better uniform than the Dodgers home uniforms? Yankee pintrstipes? Canadian whites?

They actually didn't mess with tradition, only recent tradition.

I too hated when the NHL reversed it in '03-'04 season, and originally from what I heard at the time, they were only planning to do it for that one season.

Tradition-wise and going back in NHL time, the home teams had always worn their color jersey at home, and white on the road up until around 1970, when the CANUCKS and SABRES entered the league.
