The_Admiral
Toronto would look a lot more likely if they could somehow fill a 50,000-seat stadium.I do believe that the Rogers Centre can house 50,000 for football. That's the point: it's 10,000 seats smaller than Soldier Field, they still stuggle mightily to fill the joint, and a lot of the people that do show up are people coming in from Western New York who, pace the lovely city of Toronto, certainly would've preferred not dealing with border crossings when they could simply go to another good old game at Ralph Wilson. Toronto isn't as hungry for the NFL as the NFL thought. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Waffles
Newark seems to be approaching the Nets' two-year stopover as their audition for a future relocation, the way Oklahoma City did with the Hornets. It'd be interesting to see if their name starts to come up as a potential landing spot if they can demonstrate potential to support a team, and if they can also continue to build on the progress they've made on crime and quality of life. JH42XCC
As much as I would love to see the Jaguars move from Jacksonville to Los Angeles, I think it would be even better if the Raiders moved back there from Oakland.

DustDevil61
I'm still standing that it's going to be the Phoenix Coyotes, despite the insistance of Bettman & Co.® keeping an NHL team in a financially failing market. However, I can see any these next 11 skipping their respective towns soon:--Jacksonville Jaguars--Florida Panthers--St. Louis Rams--Buffalo Bills--Atlanta Thrashers--Sacramento Kings--Minnesota Vikings--Tampa Bay Rays--Nashville Predators--Oakland A'sAs for expansion, I don't see it happening until 2020. BaltimoreFan
I don't think expansion is happening anytime soon. If anything I think some leagues have too many teams, but I don't think contraction is going to happen either. I agree with a lot of other people that I think a football team to LA is the next move. Personally I think it will be and should be the Jaguars. The Rams might beat them to it though. I think the Bills and Vikings have too much history and they will work things out before a move happens. MLB is probably going to keep steady for the next 20 years. With the exception of the A's possibly moving to San Jose or Sacramento. I don't follow the NBA or NHL enough to make a good prediction. The only thing I can add is that Baltimore has discussed building a new arena once the financial climate gets better. The big debate whether or not to build it "big league" size or not. If they do build it large enough, I've got to think Baltimore would move up the list of possible destinations for basketball or hockey teams. Personally I'd at least like to see minor league hockey return. I'm too young to really remember it in the city, but it seemed somewhat popular. The big problem is that the current arena is a dump. What does everyone think of the prospects of a team in Las Vegas? I think it will happen within the next 25 years. At the moment though, it appears no team wants to risk the close proximity to gambling.
The_Admiral
No team wants the proximity to the miles and miles of foreclosed property, either. dfwabel
No team wants the proximity to the miles and miles of foreclosed property, either. Detroit with sand and the mob.Las Vegas has been hit hard in the last decade. The year following 9/11 and then the economic downturn. I go visit two times a year, but have no real casino affiliation, but I still get room deals from every major strip casino weekly. I now stay off-strip for two nights and rent a car. Strip casinos are giving away rooms more than ever. I get promotions from the Wynn and Bellagio as much as I do from Luxor and Bally's. There is no real disposable income for the residents since the wages are less there. Casinos, who have to rebuild their conventions really cannot "give away" tickets for MLB or even NBA. In addition, there appears to be no tax(payer) money available. Hotels already add a 14% surcharge over the 9% Clark County tax. County Commissioners have given thumbs down to all three developers of a new arena. Two wanted tax money directly, Chris Milam wanted the county to revive the mothballed redevelopment district off Sahara Avenue (Silver State Arena). Tax money from the district would begin flowing to the arena after it opened and total $125 million over two decades. No bonds would be used, but 20% of public money would be required. ltjets21
Its not a question, im asking what the board thinks. If it's not a question then what is it?I was stupid, it was a question, but I wasn't asking like a trivia question which I could google. It was more of an opinion question.
