2010-11 NHL Season Thread

Still MIGHTY

Hits are a meaningess statistic, but there's no excuse for rolling four lines when you're trailing and two of those lines have Fernando Pisani and Ryan Johnson on them. What did they think this game meant, exactly? I'd say to fire half the roster, but Tallon doesn't work here anymore.

So when do we find out if the Blackhawks get the 2010-2011 season "participant" ribbon?

Hey Blackhawks, your defeat has brought chaos to all of Blackhawks nation. Your ineptness and choking in the face of adversity shall be known throughout the NHL. Your false promises will be an object of ridicule and scorn throughout all of the NHL. Shame and humiliation will follow your legacy forever. Once adored and worshipped by Blackhawkss fans, your crappy, lazy, uninspired, pathetic, half-brained play will serve as a reminder of the price of failure.

Biggest game of the year and:

- Bickell/Dowell/Pisani line (-3)

- Hits: Detroit - 35, Chicago - 15

- 15 give aways

- Blackhawks 0/4 on powerplays

Way to show up, bunch of a***oles.

To top it all off, Detroit had ZERO to play for today.

I don't know about that. Knocking out a rival from the playoffs, especially a potentially dangerous one (and I'll give the defending champs the benefit of the doubt there), is something to play for.

I immediately thought of the Bears' opportunity to keep the eventual champion Packers out of the postseason, and then the NBC announcers said the same thing within the first five minutes of the broadcast, which only proved what I already knew -- I'd make a lousy hockey analyst.

I cannot believe the epic chokejob the Hawks threw, and now they rest their playoff hopes on Jose Theodore (Backstroms getting the night off). The Caps know how that goes. Enjoy your Lake Toews in the summer time there captain, cause you failed to show up when the chips were down. I was watching this game and at about midway through the 2nd I asked my wife, where the hell is Jonathan Toews? Only time I noticed him was when they interviewed him and then showed brief clips of him sitting on the bench. He cant carry the team, but hes gotta show something in the biggest game of the year. He didnt, and now the Hawks rest their playoff hopes on the Wild. Good luck.

His Conn Smythe trophy says he can.

Well, he was the playoff MVP last season, so its not like he disappears when the game matters. At all. In fact, he played fine. Stalberg's bonehead pass was what got to me more than anything. He didnt even bother to take a second look to see if Kopecky was there, and just blindly tossed it back. Also, Crawford had a real hard time stopping the easiest shots he faced. Frustrating, but not Toews' fault by any means. Plus, I wouldn't call anything a chokejob. They had fairly small expectations once the roster was gutted, and never had too strong of a hold on a playoff spot.

Also he was a stud in the Gold Medal game last year too!

Look at Donball over here. Even without scoring, Toews is a key defensive forward every game. It's the so-called checking line that got torched today.

Furthermore, the extent to which anyone can carry a team while playing, at most, 25 minutes of a possible 300 is arguable.

 It is very possible that the last Winnipeg Jets game was a playoff loss to the Red Wings and that the last Phoenix Coyotes game could be a playoff loss to... the Red Wings!

We said this last year and they still wouldn't die. Wings are gonna have to roll out the Ultrazord on this one.

Should help the Coyotes' books that Hockey Strip Mall will once again be up to its balls in Michiganders, nasally bleating about avenging prior scheduling losses.

Other than playing Pittsburgh in the finals this will be the only time I'll pull for Detroit in the playoffs. The sooner Arizona is done with the NHL the better.

Has it already been a year since "scheduling loss"? Wow. Time flies.
