SenatorJake
I'd sooner vote for this party than I would for the GOP or the Dems. What do I win?A country that's not in the toilet right now. Yaaaay!

burgundy
And in capitalism's most radical form, you can have a plutocracy. However, we don't really see plutocracies in this day and age. We do, however, still see a few communist dictatorships. So capitalism, therefore, is the safer option. If you say so...
Viper
Anyway this seems like an appropriate place to talk about something that's bugged me. Everywhere else in the world conservative parties use blue and liberal/labour parties use red. In the US the liberal Democrats use blue and the conservative Republicans use red. I've always heard that it was due to the two parties previously representing different ideals. Originally the Republicans were the more liberal party and the Democrats were the more conservative party (something that changed slowly between FDR and JFK/LBJ). They just kept the previous colour arrangements when they flipped on the political spectrum. I'm not sure I buy that though.Red States and Blue StatesIt's only 10 years old in the US. Before the 2000 election, each TV station just sort of did whatever they wanted with colors. Most likely, the blue/red scheme caught on because all the operative words on one side happen to begin with the same letter (red, right, Republican), making it convenient and easy to remember. As for the Dems' new logo, it looks an awful lot like a target. Strangely fitting, that...
BBTV
It's almost like a "social network" logo. If they had done a Denver Broncos inspired melding of the D and the donkey (but a silhoutte) with a star for the eye maybe, that could have really been fresh. I would have much rather have seen a serif font used, too. Plus, Gotham Bold belongs to the Obama campaign, it should be taken totally out of political circulation. It does look like something Facebook or Twitter would come up with, doesn't it? Now I'm imagining a Broncos Dem logo. The fact that it's not a reality has me slightly down at the moment Weird that they would update their logo to resemble a social-networking icon, but not update the icon on their official iPhone app. "The views expressed here are mine and do not reflect the official opinion of my employer or the organization through which the Internet was accessed." Chawls
Take the economic policy too far either way and your political situation will go to crap. Agreed. +1.As for the logo, I'll need to take some time to get used to it. Otherwise, I'll reserve my opinions about the logo and about politics at large. fishheatcats
I don't get the logo change. Very generic. Everyone, whether you love them or hate the Dems, knows the donkey and what it means.I'm an independent with a brain capable of remembering longer than 4 years into the past, so I don't vote for douchebag Democrats or Republicans, and I could care less what they do with their logos. Plus I'm sure there was some backdoor corrupt deal to design them. Now they are slaves to the graphic design lobby too lol. Flight 19 ::: Fort Lauderdale Soccer Supporters ::: DEFEND THE FORT! Who needs viable options? And thus you have located the crux of the problem with American democracy. There are no other viable options and this will continue to be the case as long as the leaderships of all American "3rd Parties" remain completely incapable of locating their asses without the aid of several GPS devices, a complex set of mirrors, no less than 4 instruction manuals, and the direction of a helpful personal assistant./Next American 3rd Party that "gets" how to make things work for themselves will be the first.//End tangent. -Akronite-
I'm pretty sure Scandinavian countries operate on a socialist system and have a higher standard of living than the US (who's economy is right now BTW). Capitalism is far from perfect and extremism is always .While Socialism is tied with communism that doesn't mean it's always inevitable. Also, I love how Ice Cap sees a post that doesn't even mention communism and then goes off on how ignorant that poster is for thinking socialism and communism aren't tied at the hip. What the ?Oh... the logo. It's really stupid. Plain, boring, and doesn't offer a nice compliment to the GOP's mascot. WTF bros? And it would be nice if we could have a 3-5 party system instead of this near-monopoly.
