MLB Logo&Uniform changes

Recommended Posts

As a lifelong Seattle Mariner fan, seeing the return of the Teal alt would be a dream come true. The M's have shunned teal bit by bit for the last decade, and seeing a return would be a great homage to the team's past (Mid 90s)

Yeah, it's like they're finally realizing the mistake they made to remove teal. ^_^

Also, the Mariners are going to wear a Dave Niehaus memorial patch for 2011.

"Armstrong announced the Mariners will wear a patch on the right sleeve of their jerseys next year. Also, Niehaus' microphone will be on display at Safeco, and a statue of him will be unveiled during the 2011 season."

Giants have a new World Champions logo apparently

Im guessing it will be a patch on the jerseys for the home opener, and that it will be on merch.

On the 2012 Marlins changes:

Sean Flynn (Marketing VP) was on the Marlins Insider radio show last weekend and he said the new stuff was 'close to being finalized'. They made some changes after getting feedback from a focus group.

I wonder how "also, you should win things by watching" will manifest itself in uniform design.

Instead of the team name the jersey features a 1-800 number. If you're the eleventh caller in the seventh inning you win a free Chris Coghlan bobble-head.

I suspect that the Rangers will be wearing a patch next season in memory of former Arlington mayor Tom Vandergriff, who died Thursday. They definitely should, because he was the man largely responsible for bringing the Rangers to Arlington. Just one of the MANY accomplishments of the man, one of the best public servants ever in North Texas.

No, that is the new alt cap. I have seen it elsewhere and it is labeled "Authentic Collection" which consists of only the MLB on-field caps: http://www.lids.com/search.html?dept=MLB&q=New Era&style=6498

Where was it you saw that? Lids is notorious for mid-labeling caps on their site.

A friend of mine who saw a New Era catalog posted a picture of the very same cap on another board about 2 weeks ago.

It is in line with information that I read elsewhere as well. I am quite disappointed. I was hoping the logo would be in orange or yellow/gold.

I don't know this to be 100% true, but my guess is that it's part of the new "Desert Camouflage" identity. Which I do know for a fact is getting a makeover for 2011.

Wasn't there suppose to be an entire overhaul of the team identity this year?

I don't know, that Padres hat looks like it could go either way. I'm willing to say it's an alternate?

Nah...they're fairly minor changes.
