leopard88
They're thought of primarily as a blue team with some orange trim, not really an "orange and blue" team (IMO).Well, the lyric in "Meet the Mets" says that the fans are true to the orange and blue, but that's just because nothing rhymes with orange.Syringe and (door) hinge are two words that rhyme with orange. Of course those aren't words that are easy to get into a baseball song!Syringe would be easy to incorporate. Just make some reference to steroids. Lights Out
on shop.mlb the Mets Home, Home Alt and Away are on Sale. but not the Black Alt. I know they said they are going to keep it around since they went to the World Series in themWhat a terrible reason to keep a terrible jersey......especially since the Mets have been a punchline more recently in them.Blue alternate at home, orange alternate on the road, script New York on the regular roads, no black. Replace the two black hats with a blue crown/orange brim one. It shouldn't be so hard, Mets. That's the first time I've heard of a darker jersey proposed for home and a lighter jersey proposed for the road. Doesn't really make much sense for them to have an orange jersey. They're thought of primarily as a blue team with some orange trim, not really an "orange and blue" team (IMO).Well, firstly, from the mockup earlier in the thread, we know the Mets are using the home "Mets" script on their blue alternate next year. That would suggest that they plan on using them at home. Secondly, the Mets' blue and orange are both pretty bright. I don't think it makes much difference which color they use at home or away. kestrel79
Brewers are officially coming out with a Gold alternate set to debut Sept. 10th.http://brewers.mlblogs.com/Seems the players and fans really liked it. I think it went well with their home jerseys, although the mustard yellow doesn't really match their gold trim. Still looks good!

The_Admiral
Haha "orange" does not rhyme with "syringe" in either my midwestern accent or a Mets fan's New York accent, that does not count ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

I can't think of another instance where a team had separate home and road alts and the road one was brighter. There is no universe in which their blue is considered as bright as their orange. I do like orange and gray, but it has to be a Browns-ish orange and a medium or darker gray. The Mets orange would clash with gray pants, and would be as bad as a team wearing a powder blue jersey with gray pants, as some have suggested for the Royals. Now if they wanted to wear matching orange pants, I'd be on board with that. BBTV
Pretty sure those were retired, though IMO they were far and away superior to the home (now full-time) version. Fox
Pretty sure those were retired, though IMO they were far and away superior to the home (now full-time) version.Agreed. While I generally don't like that scipt nor do I like the Mets in black, I think put together this was actually a pretty cool looking jersey. Lights Out
Can't say I agree with you two there - that Mets jersey is a mashup of the two most loathsome elements of their current look: the black, and the ugly Red Sox ripoff road script. Showtime029
Yuck. But the fact that they're going out there in blue is a good sign for next season being a blue and orange alt (right? right? )Nope. Modifications to current jerseys.
