Hated teams' players you respect.

Not really a player in this instance, and probably one of the only people for me that really apply to this situation, but mine most def. has to be Mike Krzyzewski. From a Carolina fan standpoint, I hate the guy for all he's worth, he's a rat, whining bastard. But stepping back, that man is one of the top Coaches in Basketball to ever hold a whistle...

About half the Anaheim Ducks roster. Seriously. They have some pretty darn good players over there that I have a lot of respect for, especially up front with Selanne (who I absolutely love as he's one of the classiest players ever to play the game), Getzlaf, Perry, the talented freak Bobby Ryan, Lubo Visnovsky, Lilja. It's hard to hate those guys, but they wear the wrong jersey. Put them in a Mighty Ducks jersey and I might love them, but the ugly and crappy Anaheim Ducks jersey, I can't root for them.

Bulls: Jordan, Pippen, Paxson, Kerr, Rodman, Luol Deng

Lakers: Shaq, Magic, Worthy, Gasol

Vikes: John Randle, Cris Carter, Randy Moss, Fuad Reveiz, Chris Doleman, Joey Browner (there are others who wore purple at one point, but I didn't list them because they're more associated with other teams...notably Cunningham, Warren Moon and employee number 4)

Cowboys: Emmitt, Aikman, Deion, Dat Nguyen, Ware, Witten, Romo, Austin

Red Wings: Yzerman, Osgood, Tim Cheveldae, Chelios

Blackhawks (I don't hate em, but don't exactly like em): Kane, Toews, Chelios, Roenick, Belfour, Daze, Amonte, Thibault

Stars: Modano, Zubov, Turco, Moog

Blues: Hull, Dimitra, Pronger

Cardinals: Pujols, Ozzie, McGwire, Edmonds, Ankiel

Reds: Sabo, Larkin, Rijo, Griffey

Yankees: Mattingly, Jeter, Matsui, Rivera, Wells

Brewers: Yount, Molitor, Jenkins, Jeff D'Amico, Mark Loretta, Jeff Cirillo, Capuano

DC United: Jaime Moreno, Raul Diaz Arce, Eddie Pope

Yankees: Derek Jeter. It's been said multiple times in this thread, but even though he's on the Yankees he's the epitome of a player who gives it his all and a class act on and off the field. Also the greats like DiMaggio, Babe Ruth, Yogi, Mantle, and others

Phillies: Roy Halladay with his no-hitters galore and pitching ability

Rangers: Brian Leetch, Adam Graves, and Mike Richter from the 94 Finals team. I've never had any problem with these guys. I guess throw in Henrik Lundqvist as well

Patriots: I guess Tom Brady for how insanely good his stats are and his role as a leader. And of course Curtis Martin pre-Jet days :P

Kobe. This is quite petty and I know that, but I hate him and the Lakers so much that he pretty much single handedly turned me off to professional basketball to the point where I can't even watch it anymore. But the reason he did that is because he just absolutely kills everyone. He's the single best athlete I've ever seen play any sport and to not recognize that would just be extending my bitterness to the point where it's completely over the top. The minute he's out of the league I'll be the happiest person around, but there is no doubt the NBA will have suffered a HUGE loss when that happens.

Barry Bonds: The attitude. The 'roids. Barry Bonds was very easy to dislike. I have been watching baseball for over 40 years and I'm here to tell you that the guy was the best player I've ever seen...and I'm talking about pre-steroid Bonds. I have to respect that.

I couldn't stand Bonds as a player, but as I understand advanced statistics and sabermetrics more... holy :censored:, he might be the greatest baseball player of all time. He routinely outhit his BABIP by 40-60 points. A player doing this in general is rare(there were two players who did so in 2010... Vladamir Guerrero [bA:.300, BABIP:.292] and Albert Pujols [bA:.312, BABIP:.297], but I can't find any who did it as often, and with such disparity as Bonds. It takes an incredible K% and good-great power to even be possible.

The thing that just kills me with Bonds is that he didn't need the steroids. Imagine what people would be saying about him today had he stayed clean.

I have to agree with GFB. I utterly abhor the Denver team, but Sakic was a class act and I was actually sorry to see him retire.

I'm also starting to come around on Crosby. I hate what he did in the Olympics and the Pens beating the Wings was uncool, but he is an amazing player and having the opportunity to watch such a talented player in his prime is a privilege.

Troy Polamalu. Dammit, why does he have to be so good? And why do his commercials have to be so funny? *sigh*

If we're talking past players as well, Steve Yzerman.

Mine is Devin Hester, the first truly exciting offensive player on the Bears since their '80s powerhouse era. He can still change games singlehandedly, as he has proven a few times already this year.
