M4One
I don't mind the wave, but I think they should have gone with the green as the full time road and the blue as the alternate. I mean why not waves when you look at the logo and the name. And, seeing the green jersey shows me the potential of a Canucks green 3rd jersey. DustDevil61
This is like the San Diego Chargers and the Utah Jazz deciding to go with navy blue instead of their respective fans' favorites, powder blue and green. The Connecticut Whale ownership got cold feet and went with the more trendy look instead of the fan favorite. I call it Spanos Syndrome.Actually, I've got to fix that bolded line. It's actually when an ownership gets cold feet and goes with either the more trendy or personally-preferred look other than the fan favorite. nash61
The green jersey is the only one that's even DECENT. And that's a stretch too. Gothamite
Again, I don't think Baldwin was given the option of using the old name and logos. I think we can look at his new designs for "WhalersFest" as an indication of where he was originally headed. Why would the NHL give up the brand now, right when they've finally discovered their true worth? Four or five years ago, sure. They hadn't realized how much money was to be made off the brand. But the Whalers are huge sellers for the NHL now - it would be more surprising if Baldwin had been allowed to use them. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog. They couldn't use the name because there is currently a team in my home town called the Danbury Whalers. Their logo and colors are reminiscent of the old Hartford Whalers. So someone is definitely using the name and colors. The NHL hasn't bitched about it yet. www.thedanburywhalers.com

oakland ehs
I applaud the effort of trying to bring the Whalers look back... but I really liked what the Wolfpack had going, personally.
Brian in Boston
You're presuming that Baldwin had free reign to use the Whalers name and logo. I find that highly implausible, considering that the NHL makes a ton of money off them. For all we know, Mr. Baldwin could be making some money off of the NHL's licensing of the Hartford Whalers name and logo as a silent partner. After all, according to the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO), as recently as October of 2010 the Hartford Whalers Hockey Club - a limited partnership comprised of Mr. Baldwin and an entity known as Hartford Attractions, Inc. - was listed as the entity that held the Canadian trademark rights to the Whalers brand. Mr. Baldwin may well be willing to allow the National Hockey League to pocket the lion's share of monies derived from licensing the Hartford Whalers brand in the hope that by "playing nice" with the league on this issue he better serves his ultimate goal of returning an NHL franchise to Hartford. Gothamite
That would actually make sense - explain why Baldwin went right from the Hartford logo and jersey design right to this one. They couldn't use the name because there is currently a team in my home town called the Danbury Whalers. Their logo and colors are reminiscent of the old Hartford Whalers. So someone is definitely using the name and colors. The NHL hasn't bitched about it yet. www.thedanburywhalers.comI'm sorry, but that's absurd. Mascot names are awfully hard to control - ask any team named "Panthers" or "Wildcats.". The NHL cannot prevent independent minor league teams from using "Whalers" with a different city name, and the notion that the reverse is somehow true is ludicrous. As for the logo and color scheme, "reminiscent of" doesn't mean a whole lot in a court of law. Are they infringing on the Hartford Whalers marks? No. So the NHL's options are, once again, extremely limited. The Green Bay Packers Uniform Database! Now in a handy blog.

Bigboy1083
This is such an ugly sweater.. They should just copy the NYR sweater (since the Whale are their AHL team)...For those who have never seen a Wolf Pack jersey. The first Wolf Pack jerseys looked exactly like the Rangers old third jerseys, dark blue for home, and white for away.In 2001, the Wolf Pack added the Rangers Liberty Head logo for their Fifth Anniversary, and in honor of 9/11 they added the American flag. They also added a red anniversary jersey. Then around 2003-04 they changed the away jersey. And they added a Rangers style jersey as a third jersey. For the 2005-06 the AHL swithed to white at home, and dark on the road.In 2006-07 they added the Tenth Anniversary jersey.Since then the jersey has changed to the Reebok Edge, and the number font is different. There has also been a couple of specialty jerseys (ex: Boy Scouts, and Fan Created jerseys). At the beginning they used the Rangers third jersey as a base, then they started to have their own style. They only used the Rangers regular colors for third jerseys. The Wolf Pack's regular colors were the Rangers third jerseys colors. TruColor
They only used the Rangers regular colors for third jerseys. The Wolf Pack's regular colors were the Rangers third jerseys colors. This was only true for the Rangers' third jersey colors between 1996-1997 and 1998-1999:For the 1999-2000 season, the Rangers made modifications to both their primary colors - Blue and Red - and additionally, modified the third jersey colors:Obviously, the Wolf Pack continued on with the original third's colors.
