NHL 2011-2012: Possible Uniform Changes

Meh, I dont see why everyone is in love with that simplistic O logo, but to each their own I guess. And ditch the dirty white. It works in some sports and in some cases no doubt, the San Francisco Giants look great in Cream/Vintage white. But I don't think it works in hockey. As strange as it sounds, it clashes with the ice in a really bad way. Plus, it looks so much like those dumb Blackhawks Winter Classic sweaters.

The Leafs sweater is the 67 sweater. Nothing new there.

The new Senators alternate is so far beyond anything they've ever worn. Ho long until they can base the entire set on thus sweater?

Never I hope

Anything that replaces the SNES jersey has my support but getting rid of the gold would be a huge mistake as it's the only thing that differentiates the Senators from the other Red and Black teams in the league.

I disagree. When Ottawa got a team back they adopted the name and colours of the old team. Gold was not one of those colours. I don't mind it if it's just in the logo but I would prefer if they eliminated it altogether. Ottawa has such a rich hockey history and was such a big part of the early days of the league, I think that is enough to justify them wearing a traditional sweater. They can differentiate themselves from the other red and black teams by emphasizing black. All the other red/black teams emphasize red (Devils, Hurricanes, Flames, Blackhawks).

Yeah but red/black/gold looks cool. The only reason the O sweater looks better than everything but the laurel-leaf sweaters is that everything else looked like mismatched garbage.

The barber pole effect will only work if all five stripes are the same width. If that is the case, then excellent use of the negative space created by the black "stripe".

Still though, that logo is bad; a Times New Roman O. Awful. On second thought, that font would fit with the other logos' theme. Doesn't work, however.

The jersey template can be good, and can be the singular good thing about this uniform, because the O logo is bad and shoulder patches are mediocre.

I'm not sure how well a white version of this sweater would work. How much of the sweater has to be white to qualify as a road sweater?

Just swap the white and black. It would work.

True enough - it would have about as much white as the Jets' new road sweaters, with all their blue striping.

Thought: you could put a white stripe through the shoulder shield, and place the O upon that. However, I've always maintained in Oakland A's discussions that an "O" does not make for a striking logo because it looks like a zero or an empty space. Also, this sort of red/white/black heraldry might start to look awfully German for a city with English and French heritage.

The logo in your avatar is the best logo the Senators have ever created. It would be a crime if it did not end up being the primary.

i love the senators sweaters, and have no issue whatsoever with vintage white. looks great to me. perfect alternate.

my favorite sens jerseys since these beauties:

These are still my favorite set of Senators jerseys they have had. While I think the new 3rd is going to look nice, I still love this set. I even love the set with the red numbers on the road from the original year. As far as the Leafs it is what it is, a throwback. The problem with the Leafs is that if they ever went out of the ballpark with an original design, a lot of people would throw a tizzy fit. Then again what are they suppose to do other than throw a leaf on the jersey and call it, "Done"? Sure you could put a subtle Toronto city silhouette on the jersey, but again people would have a tizzy over it, so you're going to get the same thing regurgitated.

Because it would look awful.

They're one of sports most historic franchises. They don't need to go out of the ballpark.

Nashville has jumped on the "Logoed Red Line" bandwagon.

Story B: Red Wings go undefeated and score 100 goals in every game. They also beat a team comprised of Godzilla, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln, 2 Power Rangers and Betty White. Oh, and they played in the middle of Iraq on a military base. In the sand. With no ice. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy.

And my point is proven by two posters already who are on the way to having a conniption over the idea that Toronto do anything out of the box.

Or maybe it proves that your idea is terrible.

Teams like the Leafs don't have to go "outside the box." Leave that for the Nashville Predators and Carolina Hurricanes of the league.

Has anybody noticed this?

The Jets are wearing white sox with their home blue sweaters...

In the publicity shots which don't show the socks... chances are buddy geared up for practice then threw the jersey on just for the photo

More than likely the case, I just that it was weird we still haven't seen the "home" sox...

While this does look cool, I wish the Preds had done something a little more creative (and arguably simpler) such as using only the guitar pick logo. Or making the redline look like a loooooooong guitar neck or piano keyboard.

Tell that to Montreal, Chicago, New York (Rangers) or even Detroit. We're not the only team unwilling to go outside the box. We did that once... 1970-1992.
