GFB
A product of messing around with type and shape... I'll explain more later... just wanted to get this up before class.
rtrich11
I'd keep working on this, but it's hard to decipher at this early state. The shadow on the left interferes with legibility and the bar that goes all the way across is too much. I want to see how this transforms, though. It's a cool idea. cafepress.com/artbyrichards
nash61
Took me a while to spot the S on the right. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. GFB
Ok... backstory time. I was working on a logo for a cheerleading team called the "Sydney Altitude." (It's a paying gig, ok?) Anyway, this was one of the ideas I came up with... But after looking at it, I could really see this turning into a San Antonio Spurs concept because:1) It has a real southwestern look.2) Texas is the Lone Star State.3) It's simple enough to work as a shorts logo for an NBA team.Anyway, made a little update here:And for my own personal enjoyment, one with the 90's logo colors:
rcb05
The shading you added to the second one is just making it more confusing. Also, I think the line running between the S's is unnecessary. It almost makes the left S look like an E.

MEANS
great start! is there a way to focus on the overall shape being more of a spur and not as much as a star read? I think that will really bring it all together if you can pull that off. I don't think the shapes/colors going through it help much plus those old colors were the WORST! https://www.andrewsterlachini.com/ or http://dribbble.com/MEANS1974

Brave-Bird 08
I think the last one you posted could definitely serve as an alt logo, at least! personally, the concept here, in all of these, is pretty dang smart. love how the Star, spur, S, and A are fused together. it's a little abstract, but I appreciate how the logic behind it all...and it's certainly a quality rendering. Jhero34
this is a great idea, i try to do this all the time with stuff and rarely does it work this well, keep at it your updates are definitely starting to show some real promise! love the blending of elements
Conrad.
What about shifting the middle one in the latest 3 to make the right-side "S" bigger to emphasize "Spurs" instead of "San"? Either do that, or go with the bottom of the 3 and you got yourself a winner. Make a version with the fiesta colors, too! chestnutz
Agree, last one is the winner. The S before was too stretched out and legibility was tough. erikas | go birds | dribbble

Luigi
That last one's good, but the spurs have such great logos now and if it aint broke, don't fix it My fantasy teams: West Coast Cardinals (WRU), Glasgow Claymores (RLI) (Champions 2012) and Pemberton Foresters (VBL)
jaha32
I like all of them honestly, but the last one is the only one that could work for a sports team alternative logo. the first few you posted are just too difficult to make out the lettering, although I think they are very well done and clever, they seem more fit for a metal band or something that allows for more abstract things.I like the Spurs current logo package, but they only have the primary and then the spur alone as a secondary, so this could work. andrewharrington
I'm a sucker for the interlocking monogram, so I like the original, but I think it works best without the outline, just as a one-color. My only concern is the five-point star's association with Dallas (Cowboys, Mavericks, Stars, Rangers all use it pretty prominently). I still don't have a website, but I have a dribbble now! http://dribbble.com/andyharry [The postings on this site are my own and do not necessarily represent the position, strategy or opinions of adidas and/or its brands.]
Drakonius26
As a Spurs fan, I would love to see that third logo work its way onto the court somehow. Hopefully you might have some jerseys to work into this concept too.
