Wait, isn't Marty McFly somehow involved in all of this?

Glad to hear that the Pads are ditching the good parts of their uni set and aren't fixing things like that awful bow tie word mark. Way to make the least relevant team in the league even more ignorable.

The Pads are ditching their R2D2 gold road unis? Damn. I kinda liked them.

C-3PO was the gold one. R2-D2 is blue, white and silver.

My bad. Never really got into the Star Trek trilogy. :P

Dude...you mean Lord of the Rings trilogy...

Geez guys, get it right. It was the Godfather trilogy.

I thought it was all about Alien Quadrilogy!

I thought it was the "Friday the 13th" however-many-ology.

The Land Before Time 1 through 24?

No, no, no, that's not it at all...It was definitely the James Bond Duotriology

... and now every single MLB club has white-home / gray-away.

Good. Every single club should also have their location on the grey jerseys, too.

Speaking of, they're not changing that awful bowtie wordmark? Drat. I never liked that.

It's been pointed out how there are variations in road greys among the teams. Could they have perhaps gone with a "warm grey" or something in between standard baseball green-grey and khaki? That way, the base color is more in line with the sand in the color scheme without being so garish as the all-khaki outfit.

And once again, the real accomplishment here is that the civilian uniforms are gone now. Now if only they would get rid of the camouflage uniforms and dedicate themselves to dressing as a baseball team 162+ days a year.

I believe all teams switched from their variant grays to a standardized gray when the Cool Base fabric was introduced.

For all the bird de lis haters I think the bird de lis isnt supposed to be a pelican and a fleur de lis I think its just a fleur de lis with a pelicans head. Thats what it looks like to me. Only for the teams that actually wear COOL BASE greys now. All the teams that still wear their doubleknit greys have the original shades (ie NYY, HOU).

Go Astros!

Go Texans!

Go Rockets!

Go Javelinas!

I'm amazed someone in the organization thought that was a great photo.

I don't think it's meant to be an official photo. It's just one that they took that was given to the people running the Twitter account.

where is the new road?

So far there is no new road. Just stopped by PETCO Park on lunch and asked around. They've got the new "camo" uniforms and caps in the basement of the team store I was told (though they won't be for sale until opening day). But no new away unis. I'm starting to think whomever told us the sand was going away may have been mistaken. The sand along with the home plate style logo are still being prominently displayed all around the park (though admittedly MOST of the newer stuff is featuring the simpler SD logo).

From what I can tell these are better than in years past. I still wish they'd go for the more formal uni though.

I have to say, I like them. They're very realistic when it comes to actually looking like the Marines do. For a team tied so closely to the military it's a very fitting tribute when you consider most soldiers wear that camo daily, not their dress blues.
