friarcanuck
Interesting for a few reasons.+ The Mariners will be the Road team- so they'll bat first.. etc.+ They'll probably wear their road Gray's+ National League team is the Home team... No DHHappened last year in Philly... Jays wore home whites, Phillies wore road gray's, DH was used, etc.But that was for the G-20, not a concert. If it's any saving grace, the Marlins' series before this is in Miami, and the series after this is in Oakland. So they will just head to the West coast a few games earlier, and stay there. At least it's not going to be inconvenient (which could easily happen considering the two teams are among the furthest apart geographically in baseball). But yeah, I think it's sort of unfair. Regardless of making the Marlins the home team using NL rules, etc. it's still going to be in a stadium full of Mariners' fans, pro-Mariner's announcer and music, etc. Personally I would be slightly pissed if I were the Marlins, it's kind of a net loss of 6 home games, which could (maybe) have an effect. There are no Marlins fans at home games anyway, so fan support won't be a difference. For the game in Philly (when the Jays were the home team)... did they still play cheers and music for the Phillies? or did they treat them like the Road team as well?Jays were treated as the home team.I made the trip down from Toronto for the Saturday game. Toronto was the home team in the game i.e. scoreboard, uniform and rules. The stadium experience was like a regular Phillies home game i.e "Cheer for your Phillies" announcements and the Star Spangled Banner was played after O Canada. I can't remember if there was a home run or not that game, but I'm sure they would have gone off for a Phillie home run and not a Blue Jay home run.By the way, Philadelphia has some great beer in their park. Just don't drive for eight hours and drink five beers in the sun before the start of the game.
TBGKon
You know I think a new fun wrinkle for Interleague play would be NL rules in AL stadiums and Vice Versa. This comes up (among fans anyway) from time to time and I totally agree.Totally on board with this.Agreed as well, something good to change up the nostalgia factor. Personally, I long for the days of two truly-separate leagues once again, but since they introduced Interleague Play, they might as well offer this as well. Perhaps every Interleague series has the first two games played under the host city's rules, and then the final two games are played under the visiting team's rules. The_Admiral
Most series are three games, though.I'd just prefer that we stop having a designated hitter so that we don't need to have this discussion. The American League needed to artificially inflate offense and attendance during a 1970s downturn of both factors. They did. Now go back. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Drakonius26
I know most series are three games, but it's just an idea to incorporate that kind of a change with Interleague play.

Gregmond
How is there not an available stadium in a baseball-starved location somewhere between Miami and Seattle?! Thanks to Gobbi for the awesome buttons!
CrookedThumb
For what it's worth, the concert was originally scheduled for July 9 of last year, but Bono sustained a severe back injury. The entire US leg of the 2010 tour was rescheduled for this year. How do I know? I bought tickets to that concert when they first went on sale over a year ago. Breakwood
How is there not an available stadium in a baseball-starved location somewhere between Miami and Seattle?!It makes more sense to play it in Seattle. At least one team will have a significant number of fans there. Would Omaha or Jacksonville really draw many fans for a game between Florida and Seattle?
