Madden 12

I consider myself a pretty big football fan, but I've never even heard of Carlos Dunlap. And the 12th man really made me laugh. just shows how bad that Seahawks team really was last year. I'm suprised they didn't have Marshawn as he option after his richter-scale run!

My top 3 would be Suh, CJ2K or Freeman.

Finalists for the Madden 12 cover are Michael Vick and Peyton Hillis.

New features that are confirmed:

- 3D grass

- player tendencies (run out of bounds/make contact, etc)

- concussion awareness (players can't return to game)

- surprise onside kicks

- custom playbooks

- players can now go through hot and cold streaks

- enhanced broadcast presentation including pregame

Personally, I have not yet been sold on Madden 12, as Madden 11 was very disappointing and I don't feel like I should pour money into a roster update along with stuff that should've been implemented for years. EA Tiburon has made millions by putting out a $60 roster update with a tinker here and a tinker there for going on a decade, and I for one am not convinced that I want to blow money on it.

I really don't know why Madden doesn't carry over stuff from NCAA, lately it's been the better of the two and if anyone has seen that previews for NCAA 12 it's outstanding.

Madden needs a teambuilder feature. Plain and simple. If Madden had that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

This list of new "features" is exactly why I have skipped Madden the last few years. Surprise onside kicks? Really? That is a great thing to add, but it isnt something they should be pushing as a brand new feature to the game. It is not a feature, its a frill if anything. Who is thinking, "I cant wait to go buy Madden 12! They finally have surprise onside kicks!" MLB The Show does it right. They pushed new control schemes, and other things that actually affect the game, but the extra things are left to be discovered by the gamer.

It seems like Madden in recent years has taken a two steps forward one step backwards approach.

They improve graphics and take away franchise mode features. More injury awareness, less emphasis placed on superstar mode.

I used to love EA Sports, but outside of Madden, NCAA Football and Fight Night I don't buy anything they make anymore. I may look into buying Tiger Woods now that it has Augusta National as a coure, but that would be the first time in years that I bought that game. I feel like they've stopped caring about making good games altogether and are simply concerned with the profit margin. What's the cheapest game we can possibly make that people will still buy? The reviewers say its not good enough? Just pump more money into advertising, and if that doesen't work, then just lose the title. As a consequence they've just about lost me as a customer. Every year the percentage of games I buy made by EA Sports gets lower and lower.

The worst thing that could have ever happened to NFL video games was the day EA signed the exclusive deal with the NFL. Had that not be in place, I think those suprise onside kicks would have been in place for a long time now.

Will they also have 3D turf?

Those are some nifty features! Big madden fan and I'm loving the stuff I see here. What about franchise and superstar?

For the low price of $60, they will be precisely the same if not worse as last years.

I swear I read somewhere that Sony's excuse for last years version being so awful was because they were completely redoing the game and it took two years to finish a full turnaround on something like that. So that's not happening now? Yeah forget it, I'm not gonna waste another $60 on this game. I'll get this Madden when it's a resale for a way cheaper price somewhere down the line.

From what I've seen with Madden, they put out a truly good game once every 2 years. What would make sense (but would murder their profits) is if they put out a new hard copy of Madden on even numbered years, and in odd years push a downloadable roster update with patches for content and optional classic uniforms, etc available for purchase with XBL/PSN points. Hard copy for $60, odd-year DLC for like $20-$30, I'd think it'd make far more sense, but they'd lose millions.

What amazes me is how Peyton Hillis is even in this thing. Yeah, Hillis had a career year, but it wasn't better than half the candidates, nor is he anywhere near as popular as someone like A-Rodg (who he got past in semis). Maybe I'm missing something here. Is this just a case of Clevelanders stuffing the ballot box becuase they have nothing better to do with their lives?

SportsNation has just now announced the cover athlete will be Peyton Hillis.

It's Hillis. Congrats to him, would have loved to see Vick as the cover guy, but I like Hillis too, so that's cool.

THE COVER THOUGH IS SO AWFUL. It looks like he was thrown at with orange paint.
