They need to add the TATC uniforms

I would never use those unless I was completely bored. I doubt the designers even know about those anyway.

Someone posted elsewhere that you can mix-and-match a team's uni like in Madden. I hope that is true. I'm still looking for someone to post video of the uni options on youtube.

Damn, I was hoping they'd have the stars and stripes caps.

Oh well.

Kinda dissapointed too they kept the variety of throwbacks that look very similar. I would have rather had something different in there.

Overall from a uni standpoint I'm not impressed at all.

Okay, I finished my review on Florida. All of this is being done in Microsoft Word. Feel free to e-mail me your sections as you finis them. I'd like to keep a similar format through the entire report so that it makes it easier for them to look through. My e-mail address is BgMack27@hotmail.com. Thanks:

Florida Marlins

Current Road Uniform - The current road uniforms are spot on. I have no problems with them at all. They're exactly as the Marlins look. The hat, jersey, and pants are all correct.

Current Road Alternate - Again, no problems here. Black hat, black jersey, proper names and numbers. The regular road pants are paired up with the alternate jersey. I have no issues.

Road Throwback - Here's where I run into a few issues. The uniform has the right idea, but it's off. It's fine pairing the black cap with the uniform, but then it appears that MLB 11: The Show connects the batting helmets to the jerseys and not the hats. I'm assuming this is going for the 1997 version, but now you have a black cap with a teal & black batting helmet. First off, the Marlins never had a batting helmet that was teal on the road. They've worn black helmets on the road since their inception. While the FLORIDA font on the jersey looks great (although technically the "O" and the "R" should be filled in with white), everything else is a bit off. The stripes on the sleeve cuff should be thicker. The Marlins cuff should be similar to that of the Chicago White Sox alternate jersey in thickness, and the pant stripes, while correct in coloring, is also too thin. That pant stripe should be about as wide as the Atlanta Braves pants stripes.

Another glaring issue is the use of the current name/number font on the throwback uniforms. The old road jerseys should only have black numbers on a teal outline. Both the names and the numbers are the same in this. There should be no white or silver. There should also be nameplates on the backs of the old jerseys. I like the sleeve patch, but that Marlins logo should be a little bit larger.

Road Throwback Old - I like that MLB 11 brought back the teal cap with the black visor for this version. It's great, and looks just like the 1993 model. Again though, the sleeve and pant striping both need to be thicker. The numbers and letters should only be black on a teal outline, and there should be no white. It probably wouldn't hurt to add the 1993 expansion patch to differentiate it from the above "Road Throwback" uniforms. Also, the Marlins sleeve logo should be enlarged a little bit.

Road Warmup - Road Warmup uniforms are spot on.

Current Home Uniform - Current Home Uniform looks great.

Current Home Alternate - Current Home Alternate is fine.

Home Throwback - This is supposed to be the 1997 version of the home uniforms, which is great, except there are a lot of problems. First off, the black batting helmet should be paired with this set. Second of all, the jersey has black stripes, which is wrong. This version should have teal stripes on the jersey and the pants. The numbers are okay, but the names should have a nameplate, and they should be black lettering on a teal outline. Once again, no white! The sleeve patch should be enlarged a little bit.

Home Throwback Old - I love the teal vest uniform! It has exactly what it should with teal stripes, the right numbers...but then MLB goes and puts the black batting helmet with this outfit. WRONG! This should have the teal batting helmet, so it appears the Home Throwback and the Home Throwback Old got flip flopped during the coding.

Again, the names should have a nameplate, and they should be black lettering on a teal outline. It seems as though they are still trying to pass off the current font as the same as the old font, and that's just not the case. The sleeve logo could be enlarged, and it wouldn't hurt to have the 1993 Expansion Year patch on the other sleeve as well.

Another thing that I find odd, this uniform has teal sleeves for the vest, but the collar is black. Therefore, it doesn't match. This needs to be made teal as well.

Home Warmup - Fine as is.

Overall - It looks like an improvement from last season, however the Marlins uniform set still needs a few tweaks. Please look at the example page for the correct looks. Thanks.

Below the overall part, feel free to add in suggestions such as, I'd like to see the (insert year) version of this team's uniform offered next season. Then I made a page with photos showing what the incorrect uniforms actually look like.

It'd be nice if SCEA could put these uniforms in next year:

80s Orioles with white-panel hat.

Mid 2000s Devil Rays (green and black set)

Blue Jays 90s sets (early 90s with blue hat, and late 90s with newer logo)

Blue Jays black T hat...the one they still wear...

late 80s Mariners (Griffey rookie set)

70s Braves (Hank Aaron set)

80s Braves (Dale Murphy set)

80s Cardinals (with light blue road jersey)

Late 80s Astros (rainbows on sleeves only, cream away uniform)

late 80s Pirates (Bonds and Bonilla set)

Rockies purple hat and jersey

late 80s Padres (Brown and orange)

90s Padres (Blue and orange)

late 80s Giants (Will Clark set)

Any Expos set (if possible) - Interesting how the Nationals are before the Mets and Phillies, meaning SCEA still has them in a slot that would have gone to Montreal.

Smart is believing half of what you hear. Genius is knowing which half.

Someone posted a 14-minute YouTube video with all the uniform combinations in MLB11. Two minutes in I see that they continue to use the incorrect "chubby letter" Red Sox script as a "throwback" version of the home and road set. The Red Sox have never used that script on field except on the BP jerseys released a few years ago (not the current set).

I hate how they usually have the all-star generic jerseys in the all-star game instead of the players wearing their individual team uniforms. I remember some of the EA Sports baseball games and they did it right. Why can't Sony?

They tried to and it caused a huge hit in framerate. I also never recalled MVP Baseball having team uniforms, either

So I just found a strange feature in this game which I assume is one of the oddest glitches I've ever seen. Last year the brewers had this 40th anniversary logo on their field.

40thanniversarylogo.jpg

Well, they forgot to remove it for this season, and something really strange happened to it

I'm guessing they do all field logos the same. When you're in Franchise Mode they put the World Series logos from that particular year on the field, then in your franchise years after that they just change the color and the year so they can save space by keeping the same file but just editing the small information so it still fits. Well, at least they got the year right...

Clearly, they didn't want to push themselves too much by adding extra slots in the programming for additional uniform options. Overall, it appears they made pretty minimal uniform fixes/additions to the 2010 version of the game. Also, it seems they want to avoid dealing with teams that moved, hence no NY Giants or Brooklyn Dodger unis. Personally, I most want the classic Expos unis and St. Louis Browns (also would love 1979 Pirates, 1975 Red Sox, 1914 Cubs, Plaid Giants, Aaron-era Braves, KC A's), but that is just me. (I'm holding onto MLB 2005 for that reason) Still, the game is fun and has quite a few uniform options, just not as many as people on this board would like. Being able to choose the hat, jersey, and pants is an improvement. Hey, there is always next year.

Wow, they seemed to screw up the Brewers throwbacks. According to that video, 2 throwback hats that I don't think even existed, then the Ball in Glove hat, then theres only...the ball in glove alternate jersey but no jersey for the 2 fauxback hats? What?

EDIT: Uhhhh, the Giants have a throwback that's just the away but with orange lettering. What?!

Twins homes use the old wordmark.

I know they had it when the series was "Triple Play" instead of "MVP". Why were they able to do it on the older systems but not now on the big PS3??

2k bought the exclusive third-party license. However, the console manufacturers can still get the MLB license.

When I saw that in the game, I thought "41, WTF, that's weird?". Guess I know why now.

And when it comes to the throwback uniforms, I read somewhere that they can only use throwbacks that are owned by MLB. I guess many of the vintage stuff's rights are no longer owned by MLB. IDK if any of this is true, but that's what I've read. Makes sense though when you see all the strange throwbacks that are included.
