2011 MLB Season Thread

I had MLB.tv last year and I thought it worked pretty well. However, the blackout policy is what caused me to cancel my subscription. I don't subscribe to cable so I hoped I'd be able to watch the occasional Nationals game online with MLB.tv. I didn't look at the blackout policy close enough. That was my biggest complaint.

The blackout policy is ridiculous. I live in the Cleveland market yet for some reason all Detroit games are also blacked out. I'd understand that if I actually got Tigers broadcasts on regular TV. Anyway, MLB.tv is still worth the money.

Are you in, or near, Toledo? I think Toledo is one of those double-dip markets. Just thank your lucky stars you're not in Iowa; territory of the Cubs, White Sox, Brewers, Cardinals, maybe the Royals, and possibly also the Montreal Expos.

Guess now I know why the Cards game wasn't on today... But, yeah. Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals, Twins, Brewers and Royals (Although the Royals' market area is probably within SW Iowa). It can be quite difficult at times when it comes to the weird ass blackout policy.

I might just get it so I can watch something besides the Blue Jays.

Seriously, I'm three hours from Seattle, can I NOT get a :censored:ing Mariners game on local television once in a while? Honestly...

Doesnt Sportsnet Pacific show Mariners games? I watched a bunch of them last summer on one of the Sportsnet channels.

If there's no Jays game on, or they have blocks to fill, sure.

They're projected to finish last. If you'd like, I can just copy and paste "M's lose" and save you three hours of grief.

It's more of a, "I'd like to see ANYBODY BUT THE :censored:ING JAYS" thing.

It will certainly solve my Cubs woes.

Wow, Pujols was very un-Pujols-like today. 3 GIDP.

Is that our first official "I'm overreacting after one game" post of the new season?

It's a good thing that Pujols still has 161 games to turn it around I guess.

True but doesn't Pujols have an amazing history on opening day? Not saying it's even cause for concern, it's just not common.

Jeff Mathis hit the baseball well today...I'm :censored: scared. The world just might end.

I've been saying all along that as soon as Scioscia stops his constant catcher platoon shuffling that Mathis would break out. Got to let him get his rhythm!

Come to think of it, Mathis started off really well last year (basically continuing his playoff performance from 2009) until he broke his wrist. Once he returned, he just didn't look right at the plate. As much as I want Hammerin' Hank to be the everyday starter, if Mathis performs decently at the plate, I'm not gonna complain.

I am looking forward to Wilpon investment night, where every fan gets investment advice from Mets Owner's Fred and Jeff Wilpon and they will get an invitation to join the Trapezoid of Gold.
