I liked the guy aside from the headache he gave us after Kipnis and Phelps got called up. What really gets me is the "great fan" stuff. It's sad to think of our country as a "Steeler Nation", because that would mean that we're a country of near-sighted inbreds from the mountains that can't speak competent English.Let's go Brownies! You mad because the Tribe is stylin' on you? I'm glad we traded him before he became a real problem. People that are getting mad at Cleveland fans? Just because we are talking about teams that you're not interested in. This is an MLB thread so we're going to talk about the MLB. Do I need to read about the Yanks, Redsox, Phillies? No but I don't complain when other people do. I don't claim that the Indians are the best team in the league or anything, I think they are a young up and coming team that have a chance to make to postseason. That is all. You can't call someone a homer unless they claim that all their teams are better than they are. I know for a fact the Browns and Cavs are going to suck. I really don' care, but am I going to go to games and root for them. You bet. Sorry if you don't understand, but I'm not going to just hide if my teams suck. It's not the way we are raised. FiddySicks
On another note, how about those D-Backs? They've got the lead up to 2 in the NL West. When I was in San Fran a couple weeks ago, sports talk radio was acting almost as if the division was the Giants' God-given right and that the D-Backs and Padres were vastly inferior teams, which I really don't believe this years' D-Backs are that much worse than the Giants. If at all worse./Giants "fans" really sucked. I'm sure guys like ICS who are real fans are great, but what pisses me off are the 20-something who just go to the game to get drunk and cheer every time the ball hits the bat... even if it's a pop foul. Now you're gonna drag us sensible Giants fans into the mix too? The Giants have the classiset fans in baseball, bar none. Tonight, we are all Giants. Like in Arizona. He had a few clutch hits, but I was never really a fan. I'll take Kipnis over him anyday, guy should have been up here since day 1! Not sure what they were thinking with Phelps instead...The one thing that does worry me is that there is almost a surplus of players now. Like our infield Chisenhall-Kipnis-Donald, all are pretty solid but they all can't play in the same lineup. I wonder if Kipnis could take Laporta's spot at 1st in the future, then slide over to 2nd when Santana is at 1st? not sure because I'd like to see them all get to play every day, it's just not possible. Also the outfield is filled now with Choo-Fukudome-Brantley-Carrera and possibly Sizemore? Too many players I'd like to see play but not enough spots! Very good problem to have... I met the guy's family at the home opener and they just looked like a mess. I wanted to give them a donation, but they said they couldn't take it, so I just gave them my prayers. But even with that cloud hanging, it's still been a good year for the Giants. I pretty much expected them to be about where they are now. They can't hit to save a life, but what's new? Can't expect a championship from a team like that every year. And I knew we'd (as in Giants fans) get tagged with the obnoxious title, that almost always happens. Sure there are the obnoxious fans who come out of the woodworks, but with the Giants it's easier to spot than any other team who's been there and who came after the title. REAL Giants fans still have that deer in the headlights look because we're still totally stupefied by what took place last season. Now if you wanna talk about trashy fans, Dodgers fans... I commend my Indians for trying to build as the Giants did. Most of our trades in the past few years, as tough as they were to take, brought us a LOT of good pitchers and solid pen.As for Dodgers fans, you can't blame them all for stupid actions of a few idiots. But I live pretty far away from Cali so I can't really say I know any.

The Giants have some "real fans," and they're definitely baseball people, and probably some of the better ones. The guys on the tour we took of AT&T were great. It's just that others bandwagoning your teams sucks. And no, Dodgers fans do suck.

Very good problem to have...LaPorta is our No. 1 1st baseman. Santana is not my favorite catcher to have because of his horrible, horrible attempts to catch runners. Santana, however is really only a rookie. Once he develops a bit further he will a blast to watch. We've seen how brutal his bat can be, (see., Verlander bomb, walk-off salami, that double against the Twinks, and that SHOT at Fenway), but also how depressing watching his defense can be.It's true though that we do have an interesting surplus of players. I think they actually played Donald at 2B and Hannahan at 3B at that 3-1W on Saturday. I liked that. In the same regard we only have the one true SS and one true 2B in Cabrera and Kipnis. Meanwhile I'm glad we got rid of Kearns but I really wanted Duncan to stay up with us. Love that guy; he's one of my favorites. What really gets me is the "great fan" stuff. It's sad to think of our country as a "Steeler Nation", because that would mean that we're a country of near-sighted inbreds from the mountains that can't speak competent English.Let's go Brownies! You mad because the Tribe is stylin' on you?
