Dexter Morgan
Yankees vs. Blue Jays game last night was 2 hours 49 mins. So? It's Yankees/Red Sox that people are complaining about, and those games do drag on.What is your point? Really? To compare to the 4 hour marathons the Yankees and Sox play. Thought that was obvious. NJTank
The Yankees can play some long games against anyone, but the main culprit seems to be the Sawx they played a long one today against the Rangers. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com

WJMorris3
Only a lowlife team would resort to playing a game under protest because a fan touched a ball in play and the umpire called the batter out. What, can't win by normal means, you have to try and protest?

What, can't win by normal means, you have to try and protest?Totally agree. Charlie Manuel is a classless dbag. He should've just let the umpires mis-interpret the rule and gone about his business. The "rules" are really more like "suggestions", and Joe West obviously didn't agree with that "suggestion". scottysprings
I don't really know what happened in regards to the Phillies game but not much of a surprise to see "umpires mis-interpret the rule" and "Joe West" in the same sentence. What a disgrace.
BBTV
I don't really know what happened in regards to the Phillies game but not much of a surprise to see "umpires mis-interpret the rule" and "Joe West" in the same sentence. What a disgrace. There was a ball hit to the top of the wall in the OF, and there was fan interference that prevented the fielder from making a leaping catch at the top of the fence. It was ruled a double, but then West went to replay and ruled the batter out due to the interference. Only HR calls can be replayed - not a double that was never ruled a HR. It should never have been allowed to go to replay, and Charlie Manuel got ejected for arguing this point. For one thing, it's no guarantee that the ball would've been caught - it was at the very top of the wall. But the more important point is that it wasn't ruled a HR, in which replay could have been used. Now all West has to do to cover his ass is say that he thought that it might have been a HR and the replay was to confirm that fact, not that the fan interference should have resulted in the out vs the double. He will certainly say this, but it's clearly not what happened, and the Phillies are playing the rest of this game under protest. infrared41
And just like that, the Giants' season is on life support.D-backs about to go 7 games up in the West. The Giants are done. If you ask me (and no one has) I think it's a minor miracle that they stayed in contention as long as they have. Watching them try to hit is just painful. You can almost feel their frustration through the TV screen. I may be remembering this incorrectly, I was only half watching the game but... Didn't they try a sac bunt in the first or second inning of a game last week? I want to say that either Fontenot or Keppinger were at the plate when they tried it. Anyway, if it was anyone other than the pitcher, it tells you all you need to know about the Giants offense; or in this case, lack thereof. Anyway, if it was anyone other than the pitcher, it tells you all you need to know about the Giants offense.Yeah, I've watched this team struggle to hit all year. Last year was bad, the year before was worse, but they're child's play compared to this season. I mean the whole year has been just absolutely f*****g BRUTAL. It was bad before Buster Posey and Freddie Sanchez went down, now it's comical. The only thing that's kept them going this long is how rock solid their pitching is. Last year was a testament to just how good their pitching staff is. They weren't much better at the plate then and they somehow found a way to win the whole damn thing. But the pitching staff started running out of gas about the start of last month and the wings completely broke off from there on out. Other than Buster Posey and MAYBE Pablo, there shouldn't be a single position player for the Giants who isn't considered expendable. They all suck so bad with a bat in their hands.
