2011 MLB Season Thread

the same subscription works for all but you would need to buy the app for your ipad, assuming you don't already own it.

I do indeed have the At Bat app. Hmm is it worth it to spend the extra 20 bucks for the premium MLB.tv or is the regular MLB.tv subscription enough?

Toss down the extra $20. It's nice to have all of the extra features like out of town broadcasts and the ability to watch multiple games.

Woah, I turned on ESPN to find a regular season game. The season really snuck up on me. Doesnt the season usually start with a marquee game on ESPN the night before? Maybe it did and I missed it.

Nope. ATL in Washington and Detroit in the Bronx start off this MLB season with a duo of afternoon matchups.

I had MLB.tv last year and I thought it worked pretty well. However, the blackout policy is what caused me to cancel my subscription. I don't subscribe to cable so I hoped I'd be able to watch the occasional Nationals game online with MLB.tv. I didn't look at the blackout policy close enough. That was my biggest complaint.

The blackout policy is ridiculous. I live in the Cleveland market yet for some reason all Detroit games are also blacked out. I'd understand that if I actually got Tigers broadcasts on regular TV. Anyway, MLB.tv is still worth the money.

I subscribed this morning, even pitched in an extra ten bucks for the MiLB subscription. This is going to be a good summer.

Are you in, or near, Toledo? I think Toledo is one of those double-dip markets. Just thank your lucky stars you're not in Iowa; territory of the Cubs, White Sox, Brewers, Cardinals, maybe the Royals, and possibly also the Montreal Expos.

I might just get it so I can watch something besides the Blue Jays.

Seriously, I'm three hours from Seattle, can I NOT get a :censored:ing Mariners game on local television once in a while? Honestly...

Doesnt Sportsnet Pacific show Mariners games? I watched a bunch of them last summer on one of the Sportsnet channels.

I remember seeing British Columbia & Alberta being part of the Mariners blackout areas, so they probably do.

MLB's tv policy is all kinds of crazy. Let's not forget all the 1pm eastern games on Saturday are blacked out on Extra Innings and MLB.tv for FOX when FOX doesn't even air a game at 1pm eastern.

I think MLB Extra Innings is a great idea. What baseball fan wouldn't want to be able to watch any game with no restrictions? They're able to offer such a service for television subscribers, surely the idea that watching a broadcast of any game over the internet can't be that different? I'd gladly subscribe to a service like that.

I guess there's a new blackout policy this year, because the Yankee game was also on ESPN so I tuned into that and it didn't work.

Also, I thought I would hate the Padres new road uni's, but they actually look REALLY nice.
