2011 NHL Playoffs

Dear Canucks organization,

Why the :censored: are tickets so goddamn expensive. $120 for an upper bowl seat? Give me a break.

Supply and demand. You shouldn't be complaining. The more money the team brings in the more they can ultimately put back into the team and the on-ice product will remain at the top of the league.

Blackhawks gotta be the softest team in the playoffs. No emotion, no physicality, no pursuit. Just a bunch of tired sallies wearing tutus. Vancouver is almost being nice by keeping it close, it seems like they're pacing themselves with the realization of how bad the Hawks are compared to last year.

They made far too many changes following their 2010 Stanley Cup victory. Their main priority should have been keeping as much of the team in tact as possible.

They did keep as much of the team intact as possible. They would've kept more players if Dale Tallon didn't sleep in with a hangover and accidentally non-tender half the roster in the summer of '09, forcing him to pay Kris Versteeg $14 million over four years after one season, or if he didn't look at an overweight and positionless Dustin Byfuglien in 2008 and pay him $9MM over three. They didn't gut the roster for the goddamn fun of it.

Not if there are teams losing money elsewhere, thus lowering the profit the league as a whole makes and lowering the salary cap.

Owners charge ticket prices based on supply and demand but they pay employee prices based on an artificial ceiling.

What makes you think they didn't do that? Chicago was seriously cap-:censored:ed last summer. I'm amazed they kept as much of their team as they did.

The Hawks had major cap issues, they couldn't keep everyone. If they weren't handcuffed to Campbell's contract they could have kept some more of their grit guys.

Yeah, that's a doozie that nobody will want to help out with.

Could they "Wade Redden" him?

I like the conspiracy theory that the Blackhawks intentionally withheld all their qualifying offers so that Evil Cubs Executive had an excuse to fire the general manager and take all the credit for the team's eventual success. The fly in the ointment here is that even a Chicago Blackhawks organization newly committed to not being a bunch of cheap asswipes wasn't going to sabotage itself by by paying three times the market value for Kris Versteeg and getting itself into a disaster with the salary cap.

There's your key phrase: Evil Cubs Executive. I'd bet he or one of his cronies were to blame. Tallon was just the fall guy who was on his way out anyway. He still gets the most credit, certainly more than John "We're Winning the World Series" McDonough.

Good thing the Blackhawks were "a year early" with their title though, right? One reason I want the Bulls to get it done this year. You never know. Win one while you can.

Really? Really?!? Tell me you don't believe this.

I didn't think they were a year early. In fact, I went into the 09-10 season with full knowledge that the salary cap was going to go kaboom, and that it was a case of win now or hope for lucky breaks to keep some semblance of the team together.

If the Blackhawks were "my team" I'd rather a year early than not at all.

A lone Blackhawks fan stands alone in Rogers Arena, watching the replay of the goal because he was in line for beer.

Also, Alex Edler is going to kill a man tonight.

When you are forced to purge half your roster, you'll have that.

Well, next game is the season. Nobody comes back from 3 down, much less the weakling blackhawks who turned it on late to surge back into the game, but they look completely lost at times and it's costing them bulls**t goals. Turnovers, horrible passes, giveaways, offensive ineptitude, and our stars are doing precisely dick to contribute.

At least Ben Smith looks like a pro. *SIGH*
