The media overanalyzes Lakers' losses and makes them out to be extremely worrisome. The Lakers are fine. We'll destroy Dallas, then against either the Thunder or Grizzlies, the Lakers will win but it'll be a tough 6 game series. FiddySicks
Pfft, Lakers did this same trash the last two years and went on to win the title. They'll do it again this year. PurpleRush
As much fun as it is to think LA can lose an early round series, it's just not going to happen.LA will close it out in NO.
pmoehrin
I would be a little concerned about the Lakers going forward.I don't think New Orleans is nearly as good as the Thunder were last year. To be honest I think New Orleans is probably the worst team in the Western Conference that's in the playoffs. The good news for LA is that they match up very well against Dallas who I think will wind up winning the series against Portland. Memphis or OKC are going to give LA problems though, and its looking like one of those two teams is going to the Western Conference Finals. They better hope Dallas wins that series though, because I am not as confident that they can put away the Blazers. If they are having issues with the Hornets, what are they going to do when they meet a team who plays virtually the same style but is much better?I don't think the Lakers are going to be coming out of the Western Conference. I think they'll get past the Hornets, they'll probably get past Dallas if that's who they wind up facing, but I don't see them beating either Memphis or OKC in the Finals. knnhrvy16
Nothing would make me happier than to see the Lakers get run out in the first round, but I too think it won't happen. However, I too could see them getting beat by Oklahoma City or Memphis. Sure, it sounds strange to consider Memphis of all teams as someone who could beat LA, but they're really more dangerous than I think people give them credit for. Their defense has been really impressive during this series with San Antonio, and they've been quietly hot since before the playoffs - I think Kevin McHale said during the game 4 broadcast that the Grizzlies were something like 33-17 since the All-Star break, which is, if I'm not mistaken, only one win less than the Spurs' record since the All-Star break, and that team obviously ended up snagging the top seed. So, I don't see Memphis as any fluke. In my humble opinion, there hasn't been an 8-seed that has played this well since the Knicks in 1999, and we all know how far that team ended up going. We'll see if they can close out the Spurs, but if they do, watch out folks. Not saying they'll win the Finals or anything, but we could witness a deep Grizzlies run.As for Oklahoma City, they could beat LA because of thier length - essentially beating the Lakers with a taste of thier own medicine, if you will. Most basketball fans know that one of, if not THE greatest asset to the Lakers is thier length. But, you don't hear of OKC's that often - the Thunder were 2nd in the league in blocked shots during the regular season, a testament to both length and great defense. If they play defense as stellar as usual and the Durant/Westbrook duo plays well (which I imagine they would), I could certainly see the Thunder emerging past the Lakers and out of the west. Personally, on a side note, I for one would find a Oklahoma City-Boston matchup very intriguing and entertaining. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right.

Keep in mind that I haven't followed the Lakers in the playoffs in a very long time. I'm not used to this. Anyway...I wasn't reacting to the media. I was reacting to what I have watched on the court. But they found "5th gear" again last night and got an easy win. I feel better about the Lakers winning the series against New Orleans but getting past OKC still has me concerned. It has been fun getting back into NBA basketball this season. Maybe it's just that I've been away for a long time but I think has this been one of the best seasons I can remember. I thought it was just me. But something about this playoff season has seemed more enjoyable than usual. I attribute a lot of that to the Western Conference underdogs. Some amazing performances by them this post-season. WIZARDS ORIOLES CAPITALS RAVENS UNITED

infrared41
C'mon Grizzlies. Damn, what a game. I honestly thought there was no way the officials would overturn Ginobili's three. What really impressed me was the fact that the crowd didn't go ballistic over the call. Is it possible that Spurs fans are every bit as boring as their team? Don't get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for what the Spurs have accomplished during their championship runs over years but...Is there a more boring "good" team in basketball than the San Antonio Spurs? infrared41
They didn't finish the deal tonight but I still like Memphis to win this series. It took everything the Spurs had to win this game and it was a home game. No way they get game six in Memphis. Even though it didn't go the way I wanted it to, that was one helluva basketball game. Hopefully the Grizzlies don't lose their mojo over this one.
