raysox
It's growing in Tampa. A lot of local club teams, and camps. Almost every school is getting a club lacrosse team these days. @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
crashcarson15
It's growing here in the Indy area, kinda like how it is in Tampa. Most schools have club teams at this point, and a lot of kids do wear the lacrosse sweatshirts. It's a cool sport, and I've got mad respect for anyone that plays it. Firefly
If the mayor of Houston was struck with a lacrosse stick, it would be reported as "an attack with a weird butterfly net."The local high schools don't offer it even though they offer water polo and hockey(!) Viper
It's very popular in Maryland among the wealthier folks (which I'm not a part of). In my area it almost has the exclusivity of golf, if that makes sense. In my high school the only kids who played it or took interest in it were the rich snobby types. Not to knock the sport itself at all, but I'm just speaking from my experience. From what I understand, the culture surrounding lacrosse is quite different in Canada than in the States. Not only is "box" lacrosse (the kind usually played indoors, which predates its conceptual cousins, indoor soccer and arena football, by several decades each) the generally preferred version of the sport there, but it's more of a working-class sport than field lax is here. nash61
Oh, I forgot to mention. The Toronto Nationals Major League Lacrosse team just moved to Hamilton this year, so hopefully it will spark more interest. Santa gave them special sand-skates that allowed them to play in shorts and t-shirts in 115 degree weather. Jesus, Zeus and Buddha watched from the sidelines and ate cotton candy. The Fixer
Minnesota (around Twin Cities) HUGE like you said. Really big deal. I think its ostly the sport for the hockey players who aren't good enough for big time MN hockey. They have their own culture up here (very similar to hockey). Those Lax Bros and that flow of theirs
Dogeshak
I have played lacrosse before. I played with guys who play lacrosse and they are better then me, but if I spent as much time as I did on baseball I could be playing for the high school. I mean I'm conditioned because I played basketball and I have the hand eye coordination to catch the ball. I'm just saying I think baseball is far harder then lacrosse. gingerbreadmann
I hate lacrosse. It is a big thing at the high school level; it's as standard as baseball or football or track in that every school has a varsity/JV team. It took me a while to realize that this is not true in most of the country. I don't know if the lax bro culture is a direct result of lacrosse itself but it is too big. Nobody could give less of a about college or professional lax.
Brass
Lacrosse, at least in my area, seems to be filled with the kids who wanted to play hockey, but still couldn't skate by the age of fourteen. BrianVlietDesign
Lacrosse is pretty popular in the ranks of high school and college here in Richmond and Virginia as a whole. NYCFC - MLS CUP CHAMPIONS - 2021
DarkJourney
Lacrosse is somewhat popular at the high school, club and pee-wee levels here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Pro Lacrosse flamed out as the indoor San Jose Stealth (NLL) moved north to Everett, Washington in 2010 and the outdoor San Francisco Dragons (MLL) folded in 2008. Berlin Wall
Hmmmm, most people do not even know what Lacrosse is or only heard of it because of the American Pie movie in the area I live in. GriffinM6
It's growing widely in Georgia. All of my friends that used to play baseball play lacrosse now. I hate that I can't talk to anyone aboout baseball. I don't mind Lacrosse though. I was going to play, but I couldn't get the equipment in time for sign-ups. sparkychewbarky
It's a tough game dorshak.Don't know about field, but I played box for the Excelsiors back in the John McCauley era, against the Green Gaels, Lakers, Salmonbellies, etc.Fantastic game.Would much rather support the regular guys on the Rock, who give 'er 100% every night for a mere pittance, than watch the overpaid posturing primping prima donnas of the NBA Raptors. *The Battle of Seattle
DelayedPenalty
Pro and college lacrosse is non-existent in Michigan. High school lacrosse is gaining in popularity. My alma mater (do they call high school's alma mater, or is that just college? Anyways...) just got boys and girls varsity lacrosse last year. It's more affordable than hockey and it ends up becoming the sport of choice for that reason. Actually youth box lacrosse, much like house league hockey, is very popular where I live (Brampton, Ontario). Seadragon76
Being so close to Minnesota, I'm kinda shocked that Iowa hasn't tried to hop on that bandwagon.I just think that it wouldn't work out here. I don't know. I mean, there are club level teams at the college level, but I don't think they (they being the colleges of the state) would be starting up a varsity Lacrosse program any time soon. sc49erfan15
I briefly played lacrosse at Winthrop. A few high schools in the area offer it, mainly areas with a lot of transplants from other areas. Apparently it's huge in the Hilton Head area.
