The_Admiral Posted May 22, 2011 Share Posted May 22, 2011 How is purple perfect for Utah, other than the entirely clichéd 'Purple Mountain's Majesty' reference that always comes up?Well, it's a cliché for good reason. Quick google image search of "mountains utah" shows a lot of purplish-tinged mountains. Besides, they needed purple as a base for continuity between the New Orleans hand-me-downs and the new stuff. Would've been nice if they kept that continuity after 2004, but the Jazz have shown nothing but branding ineptitude since then. The template of the black alternates would've been a nice way to keep the 1996 update going without hanging on to some of the more '90s trappings, like the gradient mountains. The black alternates themselves were a textbook BFBS mess, but I can understand their need to reach the key "young urban" demographic in Salt Lake City and make sure they were able to Rock the Stock' in style. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
