Maybe Manny will play for Spain. But there will be a lot of mediocre teams. @MichaelDanger19 | Dribbble
Breakwood
I love it! I know some players and most fans don't care at all about this tournament, but I love it. I worked around the Tournament in 2009 and had a great time talking some of the member of the Italian team. I think it's a great way to grow the sport of baseball. Doubt if anyone else would know that name.Other than that, I think this is great. It will be interesting to see how they handle the play in round. Don
If someone played for Team USA in a prior WBC does that forbid them from playing for any other country like in International Soccer? Burmy
I think Israel needs a team...if only for the Jewish players to gain recognition for all they've done for baseball.
FiddySicks
If someone played for Team USA in a prior WBC does that forbid them from playing for any other country like in International Soccer?A-Rod switched from the US team to the Dominican team in the last classic, so I doubt it. I would hope that this becomes a big 4 year thing, but considering it's such a new idea I think they need some leniency when it comes to where the players play. I like the idea they have here and it's a great first step to seeing what I would like the most. I would like to see a situation where they have a larger first round earlier in the year for smaller countries without a large group of Players in the bigs or even AAA. In a sense give countries like the USA, Japan, the Dominican Republic, ect a first round bye. This would make it so that the smaller countries could play competitively without having to be subjected to getting torched by stronger countries, and would give the big leaguers more time off. I like that they put in a play in round, it'll help to better gauge what countries really do have potential to produce talent. As much as I love seeing them play, no way should countries like South Africa even be on the same field as the USA and Japan at this point in their development.
