NHL OFFSEASON - 2011

Coyotes have traded the rights of Ilya Bryzgalov to Philadelphia.

You have got to be kidding me, now they are just giving away their top players.

You'd be cool with it if they gave away their top players to the Devils because it would be another savvy, cunning move, by Lamoriello, right?

Yeah that was necessary and not out of left field.

They must have known that Bryzgalov had no intention of staying, and figured it was better to get an extra third-round pick than nothing at all.

If sending the team's only good player out of town isn't the deathblow for this market, then they're never leaving.

Why doesn't the city of Glendale pay for Bryzgalov's contract to keep him?

Gary can pony up some more dough dont you think?

Does this mean Carter is likely gone to afford him?

There's rumors about Jeff Carter going to Columbus for the 8th pick and someone else. With Scott Howson I've never heard a rumor that came true though. That said, I think he knows this off-season will determine his future with the team so I don't expect him to do nothing like he did last off-season.

Jeff Carter is as good as gone. Not sure about the Columbus thing, but he's certainly going to be the high-priced guy who gets the boot.

Because Bryzgalov's name couldn't fit on the back of Logan Wade's jersey.

Dreger says that Bryzgalov wants to be treated like a "Top Player" and his asking price was too steep for the Yotes.

And that's because, IMO, he's a top-5 goalie in this league.

Also, I'd be down with Jeff Carter coming into Columbus.

Could any CBA experts verify whether Carter is even eligible to be moved this offseason on the heels of an extension?

Carter currently doesn't have a non-trade clause, so he's eligible to be traded prior to July 1st. When the contract extension takes effect, he's got a full NTC until the end of the 2014-2015 season, then a modified NTC until 2021-2022.

With Selanne as a UFA, anyone want to start the rumour that he's going to sign in Winnipeg to finish (ha, Finnish) out his career where he started?

Only if we can say that its hinging on a Doan or Khabibulin trade.

Uh no.

Teemu lives in OC. His kids go to school in OC. Teemu even lists his hometown as Coto de Caza now. It's Ducks or retirement, and even in retirement, he's living here. He's said as much. He'll keep going to Finland in the summers like always to visit family/friends and such, but he's here now. And I'm sure if he were to retire, the Ducks would offer him a job to stay with the Ducks in some capacity just like they did with Scott Niedermayer.

I'm pretty sure the Ducks were slated to be visiting Atlanta, and now Winnipeg, next year anyways. I'm sure he'll get a nice reception.

This changes everything.

if my sarcasm sensor is working properly, i was simply contributing to the conversation in terms of off season changes. Not much to talk about at the moment so anything to keep the convo going....sheesh
