The_Admiral
Bruins won't have to pay Savard if he retires, but the union will surely strongly discourage him from filing for retirement unless there's a doctor that says "no, you seriously can't ever play hockey again in your life," and even then. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Sport
I read that he's not planning on actually retiring because that would void the rest of his guaranteed money. Also, Matt Cooke.
DEAD!
Three enforcers in one offseason...don't tell me it's not fair to at least open up the discussion of fighting in the NHL, the mindset of guys who are asked to be strictly "enforcers", and what damage the NHL might be doing by enabling the whole thing.I mean it depends on what's determined to be Belak's cause of death. Boogaard was a bad mix of pills and alcohol. Rypien was a depression fueled suicide. There is the common thread that they're all enforcers, but it's a weak thread to pull on when trying to link them all together. The circumstances and actual cause of death will be the biggest issue here.I agree with that. I think it's all a coincidence that three enforcers died and that's without knowing how Belak died. However, it wouldn't hurt to be proactive to make sure more players in the future don't have to go through what the deceased went through. I saw, I came, I left. Gotta keep warm somehow.Chances are, this will be all cleared up and not allowed to drive a boat through the streets of Winnipeg under penalty of walking down Main Street by himself after 10 pm. Sport
I dislike Crosby and Penguins fans are easily the worst visiting fans I've ever had to deal with at Nationwide Arena, but if he never plays again that would be a disaster for the game and the league. I'm rooting for him to come back healthy.

Though several NHL teams are floundering south of the border, it's not clear if or when a team might be available for relocation.Quebecor president and CEO Pierre Karl Peladeau has made it clear he would be interested in owning any future NHL franchise in Quebec City, a government and tourist centre of 650,000 people. The 25-year deal signed with the city includes a lease for a hockey team, a deal for events and performances and a naming-rights agreement. Quebecor will pay $33 million in September 2015, when the building is scheduled to open. That amount rises to $63.5 million if the city lands an NHL teamLet the speculation of the Nordiques return begin again.

Donald Fehr didn't care about a World Series being cancelled....I doubt he's gonna care if the NHL misses a season, especially they just recently lost a year to a work stoppage. The_Admiral
One more work stoppage and the league is dead. Luckily, this negotiation looks like it's going to be more between rich and poor ownership like 1994 than a united ownership front against players like 2004, so I don't think there's going to be the same locking of arms and proclaiming that losing a whole season is worth it. Not for the teams who carry this league's water, it's not. It would be terrible if Crosby retired, and I don't even care for him. Terrible blemish for the league if he's done. It's crazy to think that two of the Penguins' three greatest players, Hall of Famers all, will have achieved what they did despite never truly realizing their potential. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫

If you know anything about what's going on, there are no major issues between the sides, so they'll work out another CBA and you won't even notice it.
