The ESPN article makes me wonder, as Oakland EVER had a bad uniform? I'm salivating on this color combination

And I'd have to say - have they EVER had a GOOD uniform? I just hate everything about their identity, and always have.

I think it's Green and Yellow (I don't care what you call it; it's Yellow) together. I don't like the Packers' look either.

It probably has to do with the fact that my bedroom as a kid was in those colors (it was the '70s ya know)...I just have an aversion to that combination.

I'm sure some psychologist will have some Freudian explanation for it...

You better get that checked out.

I wouldn't say the A's have the best look in baseball, but it's the most unique look. Every MLB team except for the A's has either red, blue or black in their logo. In that sense, maybe that's why people like the A's so much -- because they're not like everyone else.

The A's look is iconic. And that's what makes them look good IMO. I love the yellow jerseys, I love almost everything in every configuration except the all green caps mixed with the yellow jerseys (I hated the black look - glad that is gone). And I love the white shoes only with the A's in baseball - that's their heritage as the "Swingin' A's" (the shoes even found their way onto their logo).

Saw these live at the game last night. The color of yellow is great. The combination, however, of that great yellow with gray pants and dark green caps is horrible. It's a great color for a home jersey with white pants and the gold-brimmed cap, but it's too bright and has too much white to go with their standard road pants. I do think that yellow pants could work and not look silly.

The ATHLETICS have now played 2 inter-league series back in Philly since they left in 1955, and I know I've stated this before but it's really too bad the opportunity wasn't used to wear their retro Philadelphia uniform from pre-1955 when they were still based in Philadelphia .... These 2 teams used to ground-share together at Shibe Park, yet it seems like both times these series' were just being treated like any other inter-league series'.

The Elephant logo with the navy cap in their gray away would have looked brilliant!

FWIW, I like the yellow jerseys even when they wore the gray pants with them .... looked sharp in the highlights over the weekend. I'm a bit more of a purist and feel that gray pants should always be worn on the road, yet I don't mind the colored jerseys.

When inter-league started I remember the Atlanta BRAVES decked out in their away Boston BRAVES uniforms when returning to Boston to play the RED SOX ... I think they did it for all 3 games there.

The amount of Philly baseball fans that remember the A's stay in the City of Brotherly Love, much less those who have remained loyal to the A's, has to be tiny. I just don't think there's a demand for those throwbacks.

There is a Philadelphia Athletics Historical Society http://www.philadelphiaathletics.org/

Gotta blame the Phillies for not doing anything, since it's always the home team that put's on that stuff. They even get to keep the away jerseys and usually auction them off. Would have been an awesome way to help raise money for the historical society that has been struggling in these times.

Eventually, some team will realize that gray pants don't need to be worn with every road jersey just because they are road jerseys. White pants can be worn on the road with a color jersey. Used to happen all the time.

Yup.

I think the Cubs fan had a different team in mind. I'm sure he was thinking about the 1983-84 Rangers instead. :P

Yes exactly! I've been aware of that of that site, I found it even before you posted the link when doing some research on Connie Mack.

Not only that, but the reason I brought up the BRAVES wearing their old Boston uniforms was because both the ATHLETICS and BRAVES left Philly and Boston right around the same time, I think one season apart. This is a real slap against the PHILLIES organization IMO ... I'm glad that Oakland took advantage and brought 'em out of the attic during that homestand they had against the WHITE SOX .... It's great that they don't pretend that the team didn't exist before coming to Oakland in the 60s after the failed KC experiment.

A close friend of mine, his Dad grew up in Philly before he married and relocated to Buffalo, so I heard alot of stories about the old Philadelphia ATHLETICS ... I love those old photos of Shibe Park, what an antique it must've been and so early 20th century-like ...

Oh well :therock:

Yes, but many were also calling them the 'Bickering' A's ... with all their clubhouse in-fighting .... yet they were so damn good in the early 70s that they were able to leave it in the clubhouse once they took to the baseball diamond. I remember as a kid watching them beat the REDS, METS, and DODGERS in the Series ....

Then free-agency arrived and the exodus began

It was funny when Charlie Finley put white skates on the California Golden Seals

At the A's game right now. There finally warming up after the rain delay. A's are in the "road" green tops at home. The last time A's wore green at home was the A-rod crossing Braden mounds game.

That's surprising... I think the green at home is a great look. Granted, I think all of the Athletics' looks are great.

I'm starting to wish that tue A's did something REALLY drastic and busted out gold pants with the alt jersey on the road. IMO it would look much better than with the grey pants, it'd be unique in today's game, and the A's actually have a history of wearing all gold on the road.

Yeah I posted that after seeing them in person for the first time last week.
