Dexter Morgan Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 I'm sure this will annoy some people, oh well. I'm sure some people who don't live in the area would be interested in seeing what has become of the site of the old Yankee Stadium. slapshot Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 The last set is the best. You should find a satellite pic to use as a frame of reference for orientation of the other photos. Back-to-Back Fatal Forty Champion 2015 & 2016
The_Admiral Posted July 9, 2011 Posted July 9, 2011 It looks good. I'm glad there's recreational space for the neighborhood again, though I really wish they'd just kept the old Stadium. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
NJTank Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Well I could not think of a better way to pay tribute than to build a baseball field for the neighborhood over the old stadium grounds. www.sportsecyclopedia.com For the best in sports history go to the Sports E-Cyclopedia at http://www.sportsecyclopedia.com
Patchey13 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Well I could not think of a better way to pay tribute than to build a baseball field for the neighborhood over the old stadium grounds.I agree. I think it's a great idea. Having kids growing up playing where a lot of Baseball history was made is pretty special.
GriffinM6 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Wow thats a great looking facility(?). So are there actually any organized leagues that play here? That would be a great experience to play where Yankee Stadium used to be.
Dexter Morgan Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 Here are some of the commemorative pavers around the park. Source: http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?98572-Heritage-Field-%28former-Yankee-Stadium-site%29&p=1895011#post1895011

DaytonBlue Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 At least they've made good on what they were supposed to do (replace the parkland). St. Louis is still waiting for its ballpark village. I imagine, though, there was a lot more pressure in the Bronx to get it done than in St. Louis.P.S. Thanks for the great pics. Dexter Morgan Posted July 10, 2011 Author Posted July 10, 2011 2B on the left is actually where home plate was at the old stadium.

cameroncrazie07 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 I do love the stones though. I think that they were recently put in, because I just saw them for the first time like a month ago. I have to say they really did do a nice job cleaning this place up. It really did not look well back in 2009 after they took it down. But the soccer and baseball fields have really been a big hit. Lights Out Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 That's some cool stuff. I really like how they replaced the stadium with a park instead of just paving over the old site to force in more parking spaces like the Patriots did. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/12

I can't find a picture online right now, but there is a marker on the ground (made of concrete) to mark home plate for Exhibition stadium is in the parking lot south of BMO Field....and it's cracked to all hell and if i'm not mistaken is half in one parking spot, half in another. Funky Bunky Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 When the day comes that the Red Sox and Cubs get new stadiums, I hope they don't take Fenway and Wrigley down.
The_Admiral Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Everything in Wrigley but the grandstand is like five years old. They'd just replace the grandstand. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
