Lights Out
What if the Red Sox didn't win the World Series in 2004 and 2007?Boston fans would still be unpleasable pessimists instead of cocky, frontrunning douchebags. POTD: 2/4/12 3/4/
OnWis97
What if Bill Buckner had been taken out of Game 6 of the 1986 World Series? Would the Sox win that series, would that take some of the steam out of the 2004 Sox run?No. It would have taken all the "steam" out of it.But not all of the juice. Disclaimer: If this comment is about an NBA uniform from 2017-2018 or later, do not constitute a lack of acknowledgement of the corporate logo to mean anything other than "the corporate logo is terrible and makes the uniform significantly worse." illwauk
What if the Green Bay Packers suffer the same fate as the Akron Pros and are out of the NFL before 1930?The question that should be asked here is "What if the Milwaukee Badgers didn't have piss poor ownership?"In the late 20s, the NFL began making efforts to be an actual league (similar to the way baseball was set up at the time) rather than just a hodgepodge of independent clubs that happened to pay a membership fee. But the Badgers ended up getting themselves into so much trouble by using illegal players that they left the NFL in 1927 and the league was forced to take the Packers instead. That didn't stop the league from trying to force the Packers to move to Milwaukee though. They started playing home games in Milwaukee as a compromise and were even forced to host the 1939 Championship Game at State Fair Park and not City Stadium. After County Stadium was built, the league threatened to move the Packers there permanently if they didn't build a new stadium in Green Bay. Only after this, and the notoriety the Packers got for their success during the Lombardi years, did the NFL finally back off and accept Green Bay as a truly permanent home for the Packers. Saintsfan
New rule bump.Don't take this the wrong way, but you created a pretty good idea that has stimulated some good discussion. No need for a poll or 'thread rules' or anything. Jet let the discussion flow! 2011/12 WFL Champions

But then maybe without the 'curse' hanging over them, the '03 Sox would have won the pennant at least. 2011/12 WFL Champions

Shumway
What if the MLB had instant replay in 1997, and Jeter/Maier's HR was overturned? It would have been a year too late since the Maier home run game took place in 1996. "The MLB?" Anyway...Based on what we've seen so far, I don't think we can legally call this a sports thread. That aside, I have to admit that I'm enjoying the "when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor" flavor of most of the posts.Ah, , you're right. Not sure how I overlooked that one."The" may be grammatically incorrect, but when said before the initials, it just sounds, well, right, kinda.
