San Jose Sharks redesign..

Hey, soo I have a few more NHL concepts to post, mostly because I have used this newer template as an opportunity to go back and refine some designs. More baseball concepts to come, specifically a d-backs concept that is shaping into something decent.

First, the Sharks. Color scheme changes from the current teal-orange that I don't really love back to the familiar teal and silver, the teal becomes darker accented by a mid-tone gray. Primary logo is my attempt at refining what they have now, the basic shape is the same, the hockey stick is gone, and the detail on its body becomes gray instead of teal which I think helps it be a little more realistic color-wise, but other elements become more stylized with bolder lines to lose the "anime" feel. The triangle loses the curved line at the top for a more conventional geometric shape, and the design inside the triangle is a new stripe scheme. The secondary is a full body view. Home/away design is inspired by the old buffaslug jerseys; I wanted a strict departure from the traditional current design in favor of a sleek striping look, with the inner shape (white on the black jersey) resembling a shark fin. Black is now the home color since they seemed to be going that way with the choice to wear black in the playoffs. The silver striping continues on to the pants, originally this stripe was the width of typical piping but I widened into a "stripe" in another reference to the buffaslug jersey. Alternate jersey is teal and gets interesting, the main striping pattern is inspired by the thrashers old pattern (r.i.p.) with shark-tooth detail and a bite taken out of the silver stripe (I have a bigger view posted below so you can see). Also notice that the socks are black at the top for a Capitals-esque stripe design and color balance.

Now here are some updates:

Islanders: the oldest of the bunch has refined striping, tweaked collar design, new socks, and an all-new orange alternate.

Penguins: Tweaked primary logo, a few tweaks in the secondary logo, new treatment of the number font outline, tweaked shoulder design. Not much here but I think the new template helps out the sleeve striping.

Panthers: New striping design, more pronounced tapering of the sleeve stripes, new secondary logo, dropped the old palm tree F logo, numbers on the road are red instead of navy, circle logo appears on the shoulder, different NOB font, tweaked pants stripe, all-new alternate, notice the crest has much more yellow on the alt to match the lack of white in the striping.

I love this. First of all, I am more of a logo guy than a uniform guy, and I love what you did with the logo. The shark loogs more fierce, more realistic and the looks looks more polished than the actual logo. The uniforms are great, the black looks intimidating, the whitereally makes the shark "pop", and the teal is very creative, I love all of the trim accents.

I am not much of a hockey guy and therefore do not comment on many hockey comments because I usually dont feel I can contribute much, but I liked this so mjuch that I had to comment.

Great work

Love the logos ! Love the Home and Away jerseys , very unique and the arm stripping is awesome. The 3rd jersey Im not a huge fan of. Doesnt seem to fit in with the rest IMO. Has a very old Phoenix vibe to me. But the rest is stellar !

You're always good for some top-notch work, and these are no exception. I absolutely love the shark tooth/bite stripe on the alts, and the updated logos are also very nice. I do kind of wish there was some orange in the color scheme, but it's not a huge deal.

The Islanders set is gorgeous, and I really like the use of two blues and oranges.

Something seems a little off about the highlights on the Pens logo. To me the Penguin looks like it's almost too shiny, like it hasn't been swimming in water but been swimming in mercury.

Panthers set is just plain awesome.

The Sharks set is nice, but the teal jersey is easily the best of those; not only because it's teal, which should be the Sharks' primary without a question, but because it has a great striping pattern. Put the primary logo on that, make a white version, and they're golden.

I thought what the Sharks have currently was good enough - yet you've gone and made them look even more awesome. Feels a lot more solid all around and it actually looks pretty good without the broken hockey stick. Also, kudos for getting the colour scheme right, the Sharks look better with silver than they do in yellow-orange.

The only part of this I'm iffy about is the third jersey striping. No offense, and I understand what you were trying to do there, but I look at it and see a wooly jumper. An angry Shark on what looks to me like a wooly jumper makes for a very odd combination. Maybe if you lose the Thrasher-esque triangles to have it match the sock striping it'll look a bit better.

Amazing job on this one. The updated logo is incredible, much better than what they have now. And the uniforms look really good. I especially like the alternate. It seems like in hockey there's more room to get creative on the third jerseys, unlike other sports where the template usually stays the same. So I like that you changed the template and went a little wild with the striping.

Those logos are dead sexy. Great job on that.

I'm not as high on the home and away uniforms as some are. I feel like we've seen the arm striping before on teams like the Buffaslug-era Sabres and, while it looks good on paper, I don't think it looks as nice on the ice. Also not feeling the Edge apron-string piping, especially where it where to be truncated in the back to accommodate the nameplate. It also feels a little empty without stripes on the hem.

Great shark logo. Couple things though: I wonder what it would look like without the teeth. I've never been a fan of "intimidating teeth" in animal logos, mainly because they usually have the opposite effect. I find it looks meaner and sleeker without teeth. Another thing bugging me is his right fin, the one we see more of. It almost looks detached from the body if you look at it long enough. I think it's because the white accent looks kind of randomly placed, and the green keystroke goes into the black part, cutting it out a little. If you're going to do that, do it on only one side (the back side).

Everything else looks great. I'm not a big jersey guy, but I love that creative third jersey.

This is some really nice stuff here, elliot. You've improved that crest drastically and really played up on the shark theme here. However, the whole color scheme, while it may not be your fault, is pretty dull here. I always thought the orangish yellow would look really nice when paired with the teal and black. It might also liven up an already strong logo.

The home and road uniforms, while nice, seem a bit incomplete. I'm thinking it may need hem striping, as well as a shoulder patch (I'm thinking that you could try a modern take on the "fin in the water" logo they used).

The third uniform is very nice, though I may just get rid of the extra cuts at the bottom of the striping and call it a day. The shark teeth look fine on their own, and something as minor as the little cuts wouldn't make that much of a difference.

Overall, awesome work here. I would love to see you take on some more NHL teams.

They look great, except for the Panthers blue and the Penguins white. On the Penguins white, the stripes just aren't obvious enough and just distract the observer. Perhaps you should make them black. The Panthers blue, the crest is just a bit too big and/or complex. I don't know how, but it has to be a bit simpler.
