Wait for it.... Yet Another Winnipeg Jets Concept!

Well I think most people have agreed that the idea behind the new Jets identity is good, but the execution falls short. The unveiling of inspired me to finally get down to developing my own idea for the new Jets, which I'd been meaning to do since the former Thrashers made the move north official.

What I've come up with is inspired by just about every era of the Jets, new and old. The colors are straight red/white/blue. I figure if you're gonna go with tradition on the name, stick with it on the colors as well.

The primary logo takes some inspiration from the old school logos, with the hockey stick "J" and the flying jet. The trail coming off the jet helps form the subtle shape of a hockey puck.

I created my own alternate logo/shoulded patch based on the roundel theme of the new Jets. I kept the same basic jet shape but lost the beveling, and added my own stylized maple leaf to the whole package.

The uniforms I based primarily on the old Jets look, a very simple, classic design. The alternate features the patch moved to the front with the wordmark on the shoulders.

C&C always welcome.

This would be the best looking unis in the NHL!!! Fantastic job on this man, a perfect mix of red, white, and blue which is hard to do. The logo is the best one I have ever seen for the jets, including their originals! Flawless just flawless... I dont really know what else to say.

Very well rendered, but that primary looks more like a logo for an airline. As mentioned, there's just too much going on. And it looks wa-hay too big on the jerseys. The secondary has some promise, but there's too much red in it to go on a red sweater. It's better suited for a blue one.

I just don't jet it. Why a maple leaf on a Winnipeg Jets logo?

Capital of Canada? No.

The unis are great, there is just to many maple leaves, it distracts from the Jets concept. Its the jets, not the maple leaf jets.

Well, the leaf is a tie in to the Air Force theme. The roundel the actual team logo(and my shoulder patch) is based on has a maple leaf in the design. While it is a bit of a cliche for Canadian teams, I think the maple leaf gives more of a local/specific angle to what is a pretty generic nickname.

However, stay tuned I'll post a version without the leaf later tonight.

I know about the roundel of course. If we want to make a link to the roundel, I believe it must be obvious, in a way the leaf's shape and look is sort of the same then the roundel.

We have the Maple leafs, the Senators have a reference to the maple leaf, the Flames have a Canada flag on their unis.. Montreal team's name is the Canadiens...

I mean, we know they play in Canada. No need to explain it more.

True North wanted to make a link to Winnipeg and the RCAF history. I don't think its a good idea but, if this was the intent, the official logo is probably the best shot they could make.

Frankly, I don't see the idea between a pro hockey team and the air force. Its the Jets after all.

But if we wanted to stick with it, I would have put the plain roundel RCAF on the shoulders and created a Jets only logo.
