Rockstar Matt 1,683 Posted August 17, 2011 Nothing wrong with a little self confidence, even if it is wrong. I would put Eli in the top 10 QBs, but not the top 5.Wait, wait, top 10 all-time? Or just top 10 currently?
Saintsfan 21 Posted August 17, 2011 Borderline top 10 I'd say. Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, Ryan, Vick, Big Ben, Thats 8 I'd put clearly ahead of Eli, then there are guys like Cutler, Sanchez, Hasselbeck, Romo on a similar sort of level to Eli. (And probably a few who slipped my mind).
Dexter Morgan 231 Posted August 17, 2011 I'm obviously a big Sanchez supporter, but he's not on that level yet. Does he get extra credit for what he's done in the playoffs, yes, but he hasn't put up a great regular season yet. Saintsfan 21 Posted August 17, 2011 One of the interesting parts of this debate is what do you mean by a good QB? A good passer? A good clutch leader? Etc etc. I think Eli probably would be ahead of Sanchez at the moment, but not by THAT far. Bradshaw's reputation grew because of rings, 1 ring ain't gonna do that for ya!

With the game on the like, I like my chances with him. But over the course of a game and season he makes a ton of bone headed throws. He's kind of a poor mans Brett Favre.

RyanIt appears like you are basing your list off of playoff success. While he has no rings (yet), I believe Mark Sanchez alerady has more playoff wins as a starter (4) than Eli (3). And has Matt Ryan won ONE a playoff game yet? Not that I'm saying Sanchez belongs in the Top Ten, but no way Eli and Ryan rank as high as you've got them -- that is if the playoffs matter to you.

Dexter Morgan 231 Posted August 17, 2011 Matt Schaub ahead of Eli? Are you high? No, are you? They are comparable QB's, all of the guys ranked 7-12 are, but I give Schaub an edge.Schaub:completion %: 64.8passing yards per game: 276.02avg: 7.8TDs per game: 1.52QB rating: 91.5turnovers per game: 1.16Manning:completion %: 58.0passing yards per game: 219.87avg: 6.8TDs per game: 1.54QB rating: 80.2turnovers per game 1.36

The Jets won those games despite him, not because of him.

That's pretty damn good for a rookie and second year QB all on the road in the playoffs vs. guys like Carson Palmer, Bed Roethlisberger, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady. He gets a ton of credit.

He didn't play to well in the SD game but he led the drive at the end of the game to win it. And that's what matters. His overall playoff numbers a very solid, especially for a rookie and 2nd year player. Again, you are flat out wrong when you said the Jets won those playoff games despite him.
rams80 4,284 Posted August 17, 2011 The Jets don't win those games without Shonn Greene. This is not debatable.
Dexter Morgan 231 Posted August 17, 2011 The Jets don't win those games without Shonn Greene. This is not debatable.Last time I checked football was a team game, and yes.. Shonn Greene was part of those teams, and still is, but Green doesn't get that long TD run late in the 4th if Sanchez doesn't hit Cotchery on the 3rd down play just before it.
rams80 4,284 Posted August 17, 2011 And the team bailed Sanchez's ass out. Again and again.
