2011 NFL Season

@ See Red (off topic) - aren't you the B-1 guy (I know, crazy guess from your sig)? On a recent flight ATL-SFO, I got to talking to another passenger who is a "Bone" pilot and it was pretty damn interesting to hear him talk about missions, threat suppression, etc. Nothing classified of course but I got a kick out of him saying they might get pinged by an enemy radar en route to a target and if they had ordnance left over, "we might drop by for a visit on the way back to base." :D Great stuff. Thanks for keeping 'em flying.

Okay, Saints. 503 yards total offense. Darren Sproles & Jimmy Graham had almost 300 yards of it.

Pretty disappointed in their red zone performance but hey, no style points in the NFL. A W is a W.

Yes, sir. That would be me. That's awesome you got to talk to one of the pilots... when I was deployed I used to enjoy occasionally tagging along with one of them while they did their post-flight walk around of the jet and hear what all they did over the course of the last twelve hours as well as the rare chances I got to sit in on their debrief sessions while they talked of their mission and the jet and such. It's a great weapon we have, in that it doesn't need to drop bombs to provide support to the guys on the ground and it can provide air support for considerably longer in between refuelings than any of the fighter jets can.

And pmoehrin, McGahee looked pretty good against the Bengals (I would wager that at least half of his carries he got contacted in the backfield), but bad against the Titans. I think it's more reflective of the Broncos inability to run the ball regardless of who's getting the carries. Moreno looked pretty bad against the Raiders. Moreno doesn't have enough carries to really compare the two today, but McGahee's looked very good today at about 7+ YPC.

Almost for six years I've put up with Tony Romo and all of his idiotic throws, trips to Mexico, and game costing fumbles. I put up with his "dumb face" after errant throws. But now it's time to put an end to this. Tony Romo is the ONLY reason the Cowboys are 2-2 this year. Please Garrett please put McGee in and bench Romo please. Draft a quarterback and trade or just frigging drop the guy. He's not worth the time. I've spent all of these years defending him after a stupid loss then looking like a jackass when he does the same thing over and over again. Get rid of Romo. These are the losses that just make you lol as a Cowboys fan. But then again we could still be the Rams.

From 2001-07, I had Cowboys season tickets, he is who he is and it is for Garrett to control him as much as he can. Plus, if Steven McGee was ready to start, they would have released Kitna.

Ride the coaster. Championships are still random. Sine he can lead a team to the playoffs, the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl are still random. He gives them the best chance to win. I assume since you said six years, you forget the following QBs who could not even win you a game:

Quincy Carter

Chad Pennington

Ryan Leaf

Vinny Testaverde

Drew Henson

Drew Bledsoe

Clint Storner

Anthony Wright

Their OL is youthful and Felix cannot run between the tackles at all. The fact that Garrett did not attack Bobby Carpenter, who they knew was a liability for four years was a shame. then Rob Ryan had Newman (5'9") on Megatron in clutch time?

San Fransisco has a lead on Philly? And the ball! WTF!

If I'm the Eagles and they lose this game, I seriously considering firing Andy Reid because the 49ers had no business even being in this game, and if they win, your now 1-3.

With a veteran team that has that much talent I think you have to make a change. I'm not a big fan of firing people to send a message but this is one of the few cases where I would make an exception.

Who would you get? I think there's alot of people out there like Brian Billick, Steve Mariucci, Jon Gruden that you might be able to get by week 6.

I always wondered why Eagles fans had some sort of fetish for talk about firing Andy Reid. Reid is one of the best offensive minds in the game, bar none. His offense made the likes of A.J. Feeley and Jeff Garcia (old man version) look good. His offense allowed Donovan McNabb to become the franchise's all-time leading passer while spending most of his years with absolute jokes for wide receivers (Freddie Mitchell? Todd Pinkston? James Thrash? Irving Fryar? Come on, folks!).

Now I realize Eagles fans want to win and are tired of Skins, Cowboys and Giants fans rubbing each of those respective franchises' multiple Super Bowls in their faces, but firing Andy Reid is not going to solve anything right now. Yes, I understand Eagles fans wish they had someone more "angry" like Rex Ryan, Bill Cowher, Mike Tomlin, Mike Singletary, etc. - someone who has more of the general vibe of "tough guy" - but Reid's accomplishments can't be overlooked.

All the talk about "dream team" was, quite frankly, premature. I always believed Mike Vick was not as good as he looked last season, and now he's showing us that. I always believed the offensive line was a big issue in a division stacked with elite pass rushers (Tuck, Osi on the Giants, Ware on the Cowboys, Orakpo on the Skins) and couldn't figure out why that area was not addressed at all during the off-season. Firing Reid won't solve that problem.

But hey, I suppose at some point in time Eagles fans will get their wish, and they'll get a "rah rah" coach who promptly takes a team who was a perennial contender for the division title and runs it into the ground.

That probably wasn't a Touchdown, but whateva. 35-17 Pack.

I thought his knee was just barely down first and that, at the very least, it was too close to overturn. I can't definitively say he didn't get in, though, so it's whatever. Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil make a great combination coming off of the edges but the rest of this defense is a mess.

Philly loses again. Some dream team. And the Giants are on the losing side of a ten point game against Arizona. If that score holds the Redskins will have the lead in the NFC East. That's a division that's looking to give the NFC West a run for its money.

I think that the worst possible outcome for Bears fans this year is a 10-6 season. The team maybe misses the playoffs, but nothing gets addressed in the offseason because, hey, 10-6!

My calculations suggest that, at worst, the Bears go 6-10 (I would say 7-9, but I have to expect them to be upset big once) and, at best, 12-4 (I would say 11-5, but to be fair I have to expect an upset in both directions). So basically the Bears could be a huge disappointment...or a contender again.

Yes, ChUCH!. I was typing in anger over Romo disdain when they had so little at that time.

3-1 Niners are may turn out to be like the 2008 Dolphins. Win a division and make the playoffs with no QB, but lots of high picks spent on the OL. But with an average defense, an average RB, but no WR and no QB, so the next year with a lower pick , they cannot really reach for a QB and go with their 2nd round pick (enter Kapernick for Henne) and the mediocrity continues as there is not true progress seen.

And can we stop comparing Romo to Brett Favre? He'll never be Brett favre

He is Brett Favre without the golden arm. Both are gutsy gunslingers who sometimes make stupfying mistakes that cost his team the game.

The Bills had a costly third down conversion taken away from them with three minutes to go, but they still should have been able to stop the Bengals on their final drive. The Bengals played the second half with heart and the Bills played like they were trying to escape with a win.

The good news is that the Bills can half-ass a game and still be in it, but the bad news is that the Eagles, Jets, Cowboys, Giants and Redskins are next. Yikes.

Difference is though, I expect Colin Kapernick to actually be a really good NFL quarterback,

But that's the UNR fan in me being hopeful.

The Rams are 0-3 against the NFC East. I did not need to hear this.

If the Seahawks can pull this off, I will go crazy. Seriously, I don't understand how a team that runs this bad is actually competing with the Falcons.

EDIT: Crap, well, we almost did it. Being down 27-7 and coming back like that is something special. Tavaris Jackson is a good QB. If we could just find a running back, we might compete in the NFC West this season.
