Billy B
So, for those who like the idea, but hate the execution: would the Calvert crest (black and gold) section look better if the black and gold checks were smaller? Ditto for the Crossland red and white cross? It would have been better if the flag had been left off the jersey entirely and kept only to the helmet.This. I still don't like the helmet but it would be much more tolerable with the normal road jersey.I think the opposite would be better. Keep the flag design on the jersey and use a different helmet. I think there's just too much going on on the helmet. I like the general idea, but I think the flag would be better on the helmet used more like the stripe on their black helmet. lenardo
Off of Maryland for a second, does Miami's U on their helmets look really small?for as long as I can remember, I have always that the same thing but did not think anyone noticed.also those gloves are the best print on gloves design yet.what I find most surprising is how these weren't leaked and they went to a large effort to keep them secret till the start of the game. FiddySicks
The more I see these the more I like them. Love how the two different patterns are on all three different pieces of equipment. Those half sleeves make the whole thing even more wild. It's over the top, yes. But even so, they're different and done surprisingly well. I actually like this helmet more than the white tortoise shell helmet - which will look gray from a distance. I wouldn't mind if Md made that switch. As for the jerseys - I think it might be a little easier to swallow if the sections weren't so large and prominent. Or, if they just used the Crossland cross on the shoulders, and left the Calvert checks for some other uni element - say, the numbers, or some other sort of trim. In general, we're not used to seeing such *large* patterns or design elements on football unis. I guess Oregon's shoulder wings would qualify. But most other designs are confined to panels of solid color with stripes, piping, etc. I can't think of any other examples of anything this bold - which is why I appreciate the attempt. BaltimoreFan
I haven't posted on here in a long time, but I had to say something about how awful these Maryland jerseys are. The school has ruined great jerseys in two sports. I like originality and the use of the flag, but this is just horrible execution. It looks like something a kid would design. In an NCAA full of awful uniform designs this may be the worst. The thing I hate most is that the school has recently had very good designs and they get rid of it for complete trash. keynote
I would have preferred this: Those *do* look pretty nice. But, considering Md's new emphasis on all four colors, I'm not sure if relegating yellow/black to trim on the numbers would suffice. But that issue aside, that's a great tweak (and a great job of mocking it up).
JohnnySeoul
On a positive note of the Maryland/Miami game, The U looks so much better in orange than their older green jerseys. Guest
On a positive note of the Maryland/Miami game, The U looks so much better in orange than their older green jerseys.Agreed, and it's funny how incredibly conservative Miami's relatively modern template looks in comparison. Jamikel
The thing is, these would be commended as a concept here for being "outside the box" and "unique," so what's so bad about them in real life?I think they're brilliant (at least for a one-off look.) Unlike almost all Nike's Pro Combat looks, Under Armour has actually gone outside the box and made something cool and creative, instead of just ugly. I always loved their orange jerseys and pants for that matter.WOW! The players didn't know about these uniforms until they went into the locker room tonight as reported on espn. keynote
ESPN just gave UA a free commercial - their sideline reporter did a little feature with UA's president, and gushed about how fast and light the new unis are. This is exactly the kind of attention Md/UA covets.
evanmaldonado
This is by far the coolest and most unique uniform I've ever seen. From a graphic standpoint it's horrible, yet I absolutely love it

knnhrvy16
I absolutely love Maryland's jersey. I think that part of the uniform was executed well, and the flag pattern on the numbers is a great touch. Certainly fitting for a Maryland team. The helmet, however.....That's just overkill. The opinions I express are mine, and mine only. If I am to express them, it is not to say you or anyone else is wrong, and certainly not to say that I am right. kylenotryan
Didn't see the game, but here's what Under Armour has up on their website (note Maryland's uniform):A few days late, but here's a look at Hawaii's new uniforms:It'll take a while to get used to, like the previous set before this one. I don't care for the white piping, but understand how it serves to separate the patterned "tattoo" panels from the rest of the uniform. However, I really don't care for the lightning-print undershirt. Would've preferred if they made a compression shirt that matched the "tattoo" pattern.Fresno State's HC Pat Hill also argued against Hawaii's black jerseys, saying that they make it difficult for scouting (also echoed by play-by-play announcers who have a hard time identifying the players). I don't know if this will cause Hawaii to alter their uniform when they move to the Mountain West, seeing how Boise is now restricted from wearing all blue at home due to a "competitive advantage." Well, at least the TV numbers are legible.
