Blue Jays to change uniforms for next season

Recommended Posts

Ah, so the old script used the darker of their two blues, while the new script features the lighter of the two new shades.

Yep. I've been meaning to mention that difference.

Let's not forget that the original unis used THREE shades of Blue:

The "Powder" Blue shown here was not only the road uniform color, but it also served as the trim color on the White jerseys.

Let's also not forget the above logo was a superior identity package in the first place... the Jays organization shouldn't have changed a thing!

They should have done this years ago.

I like this set.

It harkens back to their originals, but tweaks it so it doesn't look dated.

Is it wrong to purchase a cap if you have no affiliation or ties to the team? That cap is just gorgeous.

I'm a phillies fan, live in philly.

But def nothing wrong with it, unless its a rival team I would think (I would never be caught dead in a yankees or mets hat)

Hell I already own a retro blue jays hat (white panel), I probably will get the new blue one, it looks fantastic.

As good as this is, it is dated. I don't know if this would still look good today in comparison to all the other uniforms out there. I think the Blue Jays made the right move: modernizing this without truly reviving it.

I think the only thing that could make these uniforms more gorgeous than they are now is use this cap as an alternate.

D'oh. You're right. The uniform graphics I used made the color on the original Blue Jays road uniform look darker than it is in actuality. Editing my comment.

And, for a reminder, this is what they were wearing as recently as last season:

I believe that blue road throwback was worn on Fridays.

Yes, on "Flashback Fridays"

Will the Jays still have "Flashback Fridays," or would they be redundant now?

Pretty redundant if you ask me.

They stopped after 2010. They didn't do it at all in 2011.

Hehe. Zaun, Accardo, Barajas, Wells, and Doc.

I've stated this before, but those throwbacks were the wrong color as well.

The current modernized ol'skool "BLUE" Jays remind me

of the MLB version of the Maple Leafs except there's a slight hint of navy

on the bird logo and also has red to go along with ensemble+the Canadian flag

symbol like their NHL brethren's namesake.I'm just saying though. B)

That's Burnett, not Barajas

I agree with you completely. Though I would prefer if the white panel cap could be used as the full-time home cap, I would settle for it as an alternate. But ONLY if they took the time and effort to make all stitching the same color as the fabric beneath it. I've said it before, that contrasting stitching around the edge of the front panel looks cheap and crappy. The Orioles made the same mistake when they recently unveiled their otherwise perfect new unis. The original caps didn't have it that way. But then again, New Era has never paid great attention to historic details... <_<

These are hideuous. They looked even worse playing on that awful turf at the Rogers Centre. That blue is way too dark to work as a uniform color.
