2011 NFL Uni combo thread

#1: I'm well aware of what the British wore (O NOEZ THE REDCOATS) during the Revolutionary War of mid 1770s-early 1780s, but that does not sway my opinion in one bit when it comes to a potential alt jersey for the New England Patriots in the year 2011. There's no doubt in my mind that this:

would be MILES ahead of this:

#2: I agree with the 60s alts w/ the hat being superior than the Pat Patriot unis, mainly because Pat Patriot is a hot mess.

>>>>>

Still, that's not saying all that much ....

Looks like a red jersey with aluminum foil used as shoulder stripes. gross.gif

Try a blue jersey with the Pat Patriot logo helmet, or the Revolutionary hat logo from 1960??

I make a hot mess all over my stomach when Pat Pariot is worn. I love that logo.

Lovely. Choice of words aside, Pat the Patriot is a cartoon character from the 60's. He's not a very good sports logo.

He's better than flying Elvis.

He's not, in my opinion.

Good to see the Patriots are bringing back their throwbacks, though. I'd prefer to see them make a red version of their current home jersey (seriously seems like they're willing to do anything but do that, though. :(), but I won't be complaining when they go out in those uniforms.

>>>

True Patriots didn't wear red ..... the British did .... the Bledsoe-era uniform change corrected that issue, it wouldn't make sense to switch the Elvis set to red.

I think the '63 throwbacks look alot better than the 80's that they've gone to as their throwbacks. I've said many times I wouldn't mind if they had chosen their initial 1960 set with the revolutionary-era hat which even most older AFL fans had never seen them play in before.

Sorry, but I totally disagree. Your opinion may not be swayed by the historical significance of color in this identity but I can't help but feel that its of utter importance. They got it completely right this time around with the navy jerseys. I can understand that some people may like the red jerseys but to completely ignore the significance of history in this identity makes me feel as if the designers were either being completely lazy or taking liberties with their designs. It is kind of like having a team from the old Soviet Socialist Republic appearing in an 80's hockey movie wearing blue. It just doesn't make sense.

When I was in middle school, Patriot Pat was our logo and over time I just tired of the logo all together. I hate to admit it, but the Flying Elvis is just a lot better in terms of a football logo.

Flying Elvis has his fair share of problems, but at least he's a clear, crisp logo. Not a jumbled newspaper cartoon.
