andycumbee19
The player I played with was Rafael Bush. He was on the Atlanta Falcons practice squad but his contract was purchased mid-season by Denver...played sparingly in regular season but then somehow got promoted and played a lot in the playoffs. I think he had 9 tackles in their last game.Nice. Still cool to say.Knowing what I know now, my comment about "you guys" being 4A is hilarious.(BTW - I was referring to Robert Ayers, from Marlboro County HS / Clio, SC.)Yeah, I had figured that. Funny connection is that Dean Boyd coached at my little ole school before he left for Marlboro. We have propelled a few other coaches into the larger schools since to be quite successful...somewhat of a coach machine.I can't believe there's people on this board besides me who follow SC High school football! Amazing! Also, Aziz Ansari is from Bennettsville, too.My connections to famous people:1. Bobby Richardson signed a baseball for me when I was a kid when he was visiting Moncks Corner once. The picture of me getting the ball signed also ran in the local paper. I still have the clippings.2. Bret Hart gave me his signature pink glasses off his head during his pre-match ritual when he was at the North Charleston Coliseum in 93 I believe. 3. Rich Peverley (now with the Boston Bruins) and I were good friends when he was playing here in Charleston. He even gave me his game worn socks to go with my game worn jersey that I had purchased about a few weeks before.
drdougfresh
I have a couple that are interesting (and far more reach-y):- Wayne Gretzky: One of my coaches when I was growing up was a French-Canadian ex-NHL/WHAer named Claude (I believe it was St. Saveur). He played in the WHA with Gretzky.- Terrell Suggs: My high school's cross-town rival, and I knew several people that went to/worked for Hamilton High. I watched Suggs play quite a few times. The scary thing, he played RB in high school...- Adam Archuleta: My neighbor's best friend growing up played for the Chandler High School team that Adam Archuleta was a part of.- Kyle VandenBosch: My wife's cousin dated LeVar Woods while they attended West Lyon HS, who was best friends with Kyle VandenBosch. andycumbee19
I went to Timberland, but I claim that I went to Macedonia. Catch my drift? Macedonia closed before I got there. My sister is gonna be going to Winthrop when she graduates, and my girlfriend's brother goes there currently. On the topic of Aziz, I've been to Bennettsville multiple times for MC games also.So keeping on topic, we pretty much know each other. nash61
I gave Ben Scrivens a thermos of tea before the outdoor game. (Long story)Now you have to tell us. You can't just leave us hanging! I managed to score an interview with him after practice on the Thursday, and I asked him what he was going to do to stay warm. He said that he was going to use glove warmers and that the bench was heated. I jokingly asked him if he had any He said he "didn't even have a Thermos" The next day, i went back to practice, and brought a thermos of tea for him. The sercurity was too tight, so I waited by the bus and gave it to him when he finished practice. Hopefully when we both make it to the NHL, we'll be able to reminisce about it. I live 3 miles from the school and I know just about all the coaches over there. My GF's brother. VERY Feminine gay dude (nothing against that). Weighs about 75 lbs soaking wet. Acne face, glasses. I think he was taking classes to be a Kindergarten teacher. Oh, and he has a history of mental disability (for real). Ring any bells?
BLUELANDbeliever
Known Tampa Bay Linebacker Rennie Curran since i was 5. Loved watching him as a Dawg and get drafted. Management in Tennessee didnt like the pick by Fisher... UNDERrated.Eric Boulton, Bryan Little, Kari Lehtonen, Dan Bouchard (saw him often at stats bar downtown before or after games), Ilya Kovalchuk, Chris Thorburn, many others. My uncle worked at the rink that the Thrashers worked at and now ive been working there for awhile. Used to see alot of these guys at open and closed practices. Kari was probably the nicest of all of them. He'd sometimes try and race me down the ice as i was on the other side of the glass and even skated with me on occasion. Saw him playing at a Preds game awhile back and he recognized me. Got to go in the lockerroom after the game and hang out with him. BigMac's posts make me want to punch babies.Hockey is weird and I love it.

It's his first year there. Teaches Spanish, also coaches softball. GO2HELL
My first hockey coach was good friends with Marc Crawford while he was the coach of the Canucks. Crow managed to get us into an intermission mini game. I remember I butt ended this one player in the midsection and Fin (the mascot) picked me up and hauled me into the penalty box for the remainder of the 3 minute mini game. Discrim
a couple I left out last time, and a few new ones you can thank a couple of my cousins for (but not the ones related to Magic)-for any North Dakota State fans/alums out there, I was a HS teammate of former Bison halfback Keontay Jackson, and almost blocked a gamewinning kick from Cory Vartanian, who would later kick for NDSU-my old powerlifting coach was an acquaintance of former Saints RB Aaron Stecker, though I forget where he said he'd met him.-one of my cousins went to high school with former Badger and current Steeler John Clay. Granted, they weren't friends, but they were there at the same time. -I met former Penn State and Wisconsin point guard Sharif Chambliss once back when he was in high school. I was hanging around my school for a little while before I went home, and usually I'd only see the folks I see everyday. That day, however, happened to be a big track meet going on, and dude happened to use the entrance I was chillin near. And I'll tell ya one thing, I'd seen dude's face in the paper enough times to recognize him near instantly.-another cousin has sold jewelry to Donald Driver, Jermichael Finley, Ryan Grant and several other Packers. Oddly enough, said cousin lives in Chicago and is a diehard Bears fan. A strong mind gets high off success, a weak mind gets high off bull
