Another full month of pink in the NFL?

The NFL is going to continue an entire month (25% of the season) with the pink cleats and pink chin straps and such again in 2011?

Sure its a worthy cause, but that just seems like too much of the season. We all understand how horrible the disease is. But there are other horrible diseases out there too.

Each team should do it once a year and that's it.

That is why it is a month long. So every team can honor survivors and their families, and work with a local ZTA chapter during a home game.

The NFL did get lucky (or unlucky for those who dismiss the cause) as there are five weekends in October this year. However, the Bye week starts in Week 5 (Oct. 9-10), plus a team like the Saints only play at home once in October. The Saints are on the road weeks 4,5,6 and 8.

The Titans have two road games to start the month, followed by their bye week.

Miami has road game/bye/road game to start the month and just one October home game as well.

I don't think anyone is dismissing the cause. The idea that this 'raises awareness' is ridiculous. If people aren't yet aware of breast cancer, they haven't been living in the United States for the last 10 years. Even Major League Baseball, who have 162 game seasons only do the pink bats and gear once a year (and they also have a reciprocating light blue prostate cancer awareness day on Father's Day).

This is nothing more than a cheap marketing ploy, and I don't think the NFL should wear pink at all?not for a week and certainly not for an entire month. They can sell all the pink merchandise they want, run as many commercials as they want, heck, even paint a pink ribbon at midfield, but leave the uniforms out of it.

See the post after yours and see how all of it is dismissed/disliked/hated. You should already know that this thread and this board is misogynistic and most posters don't want their sports, "tricked up" with female things.

My mother is a survivor and she hates the NFL's breast cancer campaign and believes the "pinking of America" desensitizes rather than sensitizes. My opposition stems from that.

Yep, if you don't like the color pink, or think that maybe it's been overkilled, YOU HATE WOMEN AND WANT THEM ALL TO DIE.

1-I have eaten whole wheat & fat free milk since 1995.

2-That is just you with your 200 post in six years, so i realize that you are talking hyperbole.

3-I stated the issues with the NFL season in regards to home games and bye weeks within my first post on this thread. See the Saints' and Dolphins' schedules.

If you look at this site and see no misogyny within your little activity over six years, that is on you. Here, if a woman declares that she is a female, this place sadly goes berserk thus makes it difficult for her to remain here.

Can we write to the NFL offices and air out our grievances regarding the issue? Would they take it seriously?

Writing the NFL is your email time or the cost of a Forever stamp for you. Do whatever you believe you think is best for your "little uniform cause".

Eh. It's not special if it's for more than one game. That's why the minor-league hockey "Pink Rink" nights work so well; it's one night. More than one, well known, SPECIAL, occasion is overkill.

What really gets me is the "great fan" stuff. It's sad to think of our country as a "Steeler Nation", because that would mean that we're a country of near-sighted inbreds from the mountains that can't speak competent English.

I would argue that at this point, not even one game would be special?just pandering...but then again, I'm just a misogynist who's aunt is currently going through her third round of chemo.

I guess I can see the resentment, but around here a lot of activism went down last year for the Browns' one pink game. A lot of the soroities handed out pamphlets, raised money, etc.

But I'd agree that it would be better overall to just give the charities money.

The Browns celebrate colo-rectal cancer all season long, you sons of bitches.

God bless you, I needed that.

I hate watching teams - specifically the Bucs, Skins, Chiefs, Browns, Bears and Bengals - wearing a color that completely clashes with the rest of their uniforms because of a NFL mandate. Once per season is barely tolerable as is - an entire month of watching my Skins wearing Burgundy and Pink is enough to make me claw my eyes out.

I hate it. It almost makes me want to quit watching the games.

Honestly, me too. As bad as college teams get with crazy uniforms, nothing is worse than seeing every freaking team wearing pink for a 3rd of the season. Watching Troy Polamalu leap over linemen to crush the QB or Watching James Harrison lay a late, dirty hit while cussing out Obama and claiming that the orange pylons are racist just doesn't have the same magic when they look like they raided the K Mart Barbie apparel section before the game.

And I'm sorry, not even AP can make this look seem rugged for a whole month
